  WBTS / JW views never quoted as good source of information

  not sure if my title is correct.

  what i noticed is that in say secular bible research documentation, books, lectures etc, one never (or at least i have never read it) reads a quote from one of the former or current wbts leaders nor do i ever see a reference to one of their publication (unless it is article about the jw/wbts itself).. for example, if you read a book on a bible theme or topic written by a scholar or other bible teachers/professors from prof xyz, you will find often in these books a reference to publications / statements / quotes from other scholars or professors.

  but never have i seen a reference to say a wt publication or quote / statement from one the leaders of the organisation.. so, despite the million page printed or conferences organised by the wbts, the material apparently is never considered of value to others or to use as reference material.. in my view, that says a lot..... or am i wrong?

  THey have no respect in academia as they are not actually bible scholars, but bible twisters. Its different, no matter how they prefer to see it.

  All Seeing Eye on WBTS Video!

  i was on the jw.org website today and decided to watch a video entitled 'respect jehovah's authority'.

  to my surprise approximately 3mins 25secs into the video, as the opening title began to fade, a symbol of the all seeing eye (eye of horus) appeared on the screen.

  the scene was not set in egypt, but in a hebrew tent in the wilderness where praise was being sung to jehovah!!

  IT just looked like a graphical print (border) that had a vague shape in the middle that could be seen as the all seeing eye, but I really don't think it was meant to be-it looks like a continuous pattern accross the page, not just an eye in the middle.

  Kingdom Hall loans Cancelled? Lurkers...please read

  i hope that writing this, there will be some lurkers that i can shake.. if you have not listened to mays tv broadcast, please do.

  it may wake some up.. note @ around 21-22 minutes into the broadcast lett brings up the the kingdom halls/assembly hall loans have been cancelled and the congregation can now send in what they can afford.

  wow...how many banks would do that?.

  Simon, the old arrangement was what was getting them into trouble. I forget the reason why, but there were lending laws or the non-profit (scam) involved, I think. The new one is skirting that trouble. Its not a loan and they aren't paying a mortgage, but making a free will donation.Theoretically. All the guilt tripping is allowed in churches and other non profit or ministry in general, so long as it is legal.

  My ex-wife... and I'm the apostate?

  so, my ex-wife, which if you remember me fought hard together with the jw's to (unsuccessfully) wrest control over our child.

  we're now 3y later, my legal rights have been affirmed a few times in court.

  a few months ago, my ex asked me if i was okay with her having someone else in her life.

  Stuckinarut, there was a recent Redcliffe in Israel about JW baptism at a war memorial.went to court after the second venue was objected to by locals. JWs won, but the fact that they scheduled a baptism in such a place seems kind of like they were picking a fight. Baptism at a war memorial? Not just named that way, they are serious about those places in israel. Plus, it was Israel! They won't baptize in the Jordan river? I really think they were looking for persecution.

  Kaik, you are right. In our country, there are more Arab Christians than muslims, though they often can be found in the same neighborhoods like Desi people do. For all the media, you will find halal food next to Hindu and Christian holiday festival items in a lot of Indian stores. The diet is nearly identical and so are many traditions - because the are Indian, not Muslim or Hindu or Christian. That Americans are often ignorant of such things is too bad, but we are learning.

  Lol. The WT makes it difficult for anyone to fully accept the trinity and they spend years indoctrinating us against Christendom. So, we are introduced to a faith that rejects trinity and respects Jesus. Women are taught to be modest. Me are taught to keep their eyes to themselves. Really, this is not rocket science. Not that there are many rocket scientist JWs. Oh, and I personally know two Muslim rocket scientists and as a former JW I am interested in how important education is to the people I have gotten to know. Especially after my childhood which was dismissive of higher education.

  Having read so much incorrect information about Islam, it occurs to me that they recognized factual errors that Muslim studies were probably calling them on.

  And yes,jws do preach at Muslims. My aunt tries to witness to me by supposedly recounting her studies with a Muslim woman. Oh and she thinks generalizing her experiences working with a Muslim employer would influence me. While I know there are dodgy employer s in every religion, she made the mistake of assuming (or fibbing about, for a good witness) her former Sikh boss was Muslim. I met him before I became Muslim and asked him about his faith(red turban gave it away).
