i have posted questions on christian web sites.
those questions have always been polite and i have never used questionable language.
the questions weren't exactly in support of christians though.. what did i get for my efforts?.
I'm feeling kind of mortified that any of what we say sounds JW ish! Some here could refer you to an actual pro JW site and you can see how it goes, pasting the same stuff as you have here, and tell us how it goes.

it would seam that the changing of the type anti-type teaching kills their claim as the faithful and discreet slave class as it is only a parable according to peter at luke 12:41. obviously i don't think they will ever come out and actually say that the f&ds is just a parable, so when one asks what will the answer be, to spin out of this obvious problem?.
also what do you think is the reason for the change in this teaching?
is it more to do with getting rid of doctrine that can be criticized or could it be that they are trying to make it as though they are really not in control of the congregations so as to say we aren't responsible when the prosecution comes knocking over future pedophile case?

before i explain why, i've never really given anyone a background on myself, even though i've been a member here for 2 1/2 years.
so i'll try and make this quick.. i was raised a jw my whole life.
i know many jw's in the seattle area and eastside.
I grew up in Seattle also-a lot of wonderful JWs, and a few who singlehandedly drove out many. There are a few I would go back for, but they are mostly gone now. The elder who told me his truth about 1975. . . I wish I knew what happened with him. He soon "relocated".
I am sorry your friend endured so much. I'm glad she can't be harmed by men anymore.

used to claim (and probably still does) that masturbation would turn you into a homosexual.
they, of course, failed to explain the process by which that happened and since masturbation is likely a near universal practice, the claim fails the test of logic, as homosexuality is not the majority form of sexuality.. but over in the islamic world, an equally illogical claim is made.. mucahid cihad han, a turkish televangelist .
This is why I don't hold hadith in any particular esteem. I will take wisdom where I find it and when it looks ridiculous, I figure that the "saying" came about when it suited someone, long, long ago who was trying to get his kid to stop masturbating.
Its kind of how I view the Bible. Sayings, not particularly inspired. There may be some really good stuff, there may be some really true teachings, but it is all sayings that made the cut somewhere along the line.
FYI, hadith are not considered in any way inspired. Many give them (selectively, as they are wont to be selective) too much influence. I think a lot of the nonsense hadith were put in there to inspire a desired action by someone who wasn't otherwise compliant-until they are told that "the prophet said it to. .. .(someone respected who allegedly repeated it). Stupid game of telephone gone wild.
