Faye and others. I am like most Muslims I know-we just want to worship one god. We can call the crap on both sides-extremists and haters . Unfortunately (for me), most Muslims are more in danger from Islamist extremists than anyone. I have family that has been directly affected. I also have family that has had exactly the same family honor issues my birth family did. Molested child and the perp mysteriously disappeared (old days when going to the police was NOT done for that in any culture) Dead adulterers where the widow was excused as it was a crime of passion because it ws a spouse.

Sometimes I think our culture think we are centuries ahead of the rest of the world and socially, we are maybe 15 years ahead in most ways:)

I don't care what brand of christian anyone claims to be. We know who loves God by the way they treat others. Whatever religion one is. Its personal. If I knew then what I know now, I would have left religion off my plate and kept my faith in God to myself. It doesn't fit in any box I've ever found so well as Islam. But that is not the scholarly version just the simple one. Scholars make me itch-bible, Hadith, physics. . .

well another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.

i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.

i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

I'm sorry. I got in pity party mode and it became about me. I just read about people who are about to give it all up for a principle and I just want to make sure they do a lot of counting of the costs and potential costs of such an action. For me, leaving the WT didn't destroy me-I was still young and life was ahead of me. But leaving it behind as an adult has a lot of repurcussions and I guess I just can't be in the rah rah corner for chucking it all up for freedom. If I didn't have kids, I don't know what I would have done. I have got about 3 relatives who still speak to me normally. The rest kind of are afraid to even talk to me in case they get shunned or gossiped about TOO. There is more than one kind of shunning folks and it aint just something JWs do!

Just count your costs. And add some padding, cause it will cost a lot more than you anticipate.

Donation to WWW raised last night.

so there was announcements last night that the set amount of donation was going to be raised.

i don't believe out hall has a mortgage or "forgiven" mortgage.

but the hall already donates a set amount above what is put in the www box, from the local fund.

Why dont they integrate the ASL congregation into regular halls? Wouldn't that be more inclusive? And long term, economical?

it is a good document in that, it is easy to understand, it's not full of legal jargon.

The appellate court gave the reasons why unnamed parties that you and the WT think should be held responsible were NOT held responsible. You should read the appelllate ruling.

The deal was that he not interfere with the judicial process by intimidating witnesses. And I am sure that she WOULD like him to have to pay for what he did to her, but the WT being held responsible does a greater good.

You know like you can die for one friend, or like Jesus die for all of mankind? She could get the one criminal, or the creepy group that protects MANY criminals and promotes their infiltration into the congregation, looking like innocent, decent brothers who are 'ordained' ministers.To people at the door, telling them you are an ordained minister gives you instant credibility and authority. It does in the congregation too as you are always going on about what a holy people you are compared to the worldly people.

There was a rot deeper than Kendricks and the testimony from even the elders confirmed that that is what Candace was trying to change from the inception of her discussions with them about her abuse.

Muslim in America. It's a crime! Either I believe in God-which certain folks attack me about the principle of the thing. Or I am not a Christian-therefore in other's minds means I reject Jesus and all that is good. I am a white woman which also makes certain factions incensed because I am a weak woman who became Muslim because I am too ______(ugly, stupid, ignorant, mean-fill in the blank) to get along in America without hooking up with damn foreigners. OH, and I married an immigrant (40 years and a successful professional, but apparently, he is liable to take his social security income and run off to Libya and fight with the Daesh or something, any day now). I divorced a Catholic-the one who has tried to get me in trouble with the govt(local and federal) so you can see what a prize he was.

Sometimes I am really tired of being me. I love my husband and he is a truly good man and deserves the best wife. But if I could do it all again, I would never have divorced the jerk ex. I could effect positive change from within and my son would not have been harmed and twisted by his dad, my reputation would not have been destroyed (I can't get a job).

I'm just done with this. Really,, really. I am one of the few here that has not had my life destroyed by my association with JWs. In fact as annoying as some are, they are just the least of my personal issues. Helps that I left them when I was a teenager. I am a good example of measuring what you can afford to lose before you step out. My faith and my belief is between me and my God. I wish I could wipe out my entire public existance spiritually and approach the world from a religously neutral viewpoint.

it's been four years (has it really been that long) that i haven't been on jwd.. i was back out west for a long while and i came back to new england.

just got an appartment with another sister and things are looking up.

i'm keeping under the radar and avoiding elder visits--not fully out of the kingdom hall yet.

I'm in the US and I am married. I have 3 kids and I am a very unpopular person-on this board and IRL (see post above). I sometimes wish I could go in a witness protection program and I am not referring to the JWs.

Just be aware of all of the consequences to both you and her-and evaluate if they are something you can live with. If you have kids, go to the worst case scenario there-can you live with that? Divorce is one thing-losing birth family and every friend since infancy might be harder. Jobs, whatever else will be affected

If being true to yourself is the most important and critical thing, you REALLY need to ask yourself why and how that has practical value to you emotionally and in practical terms. What will you do with your freedom that will truly change your life? Cause you are going to live with it. There is no easy or perfect answer. Every solution has its own challenges and heartaches. You have to think for yourself about what will hurt you more.

I wish you well. I left the WT and later Christianity. I honestly lost a lot more when I left Christianity. Family, society, work-our country is NOT tolerant to folks rejecting (in their view) Jesus. You are basically doing both at once, so double whammy for you, I think. Be careful. Everything in your heart doesn't need to leave your mouth. I am speaking from my own hurt and my own regrets, but I hope that they give you a little extra discenment and more to think about, friend.

Maybe I think being true to yourself is a little overrated sometimes. My American heart and soul rejects this heartily, but my reality is that my kids rejected me. My ex has tried to make me an unindicted co-conspirator and accused me of unspeakable things in court filings then just leaves me hanging without being able to answer because of his delays. My teenage child in the meantime has been told that I am out to harm him, his dad and America.
