Why is my Uncle (JW PO-COBE) and Aunt Cruella suing my parents and grandparents?
by ReligionOfHatred ini heard this is a website where you can ask fellow jehovah's witnesses questions that websites like jw friends will not allow you to post because they don't allow you to speak ill of any elder.
my aunt cruella de ville and uncle jaundice sent my grandpa (he's got dementia and grandma has cancer) a letter saying their going to force grandma and gramps in to selling the land my grandmother located back in the late 1970s, grandma is very smart and saw the potential for their land, she was very gifted seeing things others did not see.
in the 1980s my grandparents went to oregon to check on their daughter who was pregnant, they were appalled by the living conditions cruella was living and she was having to work even though she was heavy with child.. all of this started when my dad ran in to a elder at the grocery store and this elder told my dad that "the reason cruella and jaundice are shunning your inlaws is because their apostates and therefore have the right to shun them.

Go to attorneys and don't worry about the JW aspect of any of this. Don't worry about abuses or drills. This is a property issue. Deal with it strictly as such or you will never get justice because all that personal stuff will just jam up the legal muckiness that already exists. The personal stuff is between people who obviously don't give a crap for each other. Its no longer about family, so just get a hotdog lawyer and resolve this stupid situation and don't ever get yourself mixed up with such a thing if you can help it in the future. -

Ray Franz was an Idiot
by vinman inray franz who gave us insight into the gb due to a crisis of conscience was an absolute moron, with absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever like all of us have.
i mean, to have a conscience based on some magic man in the sky.. how stupid can you be?
in search of christian freedom?

No matter what I believe, I am not calling out others as idiotic simply for disagreeing. Its disrespectful and is a hangover reaction to being in a fundy religion. If one goes from disrespect to disrespect every time others disagree with them, then the problems and intolerance they had in one belief system will simply get a new brand of ugly.
I dont understand why ugly hateful words have to be used when it is possible to have reasonable discourse and disagreement.

help me understand: My wife seems to be utterly detested by skelletons and skulls. Why?
by goingthruthemotions inso, here i am again....asking more questions to help me understand my wife.
she was brought up in the cult in the 70's and 80's.
so i can only imagine what kind of indoctrination she deals with.

I dont have an irrational response to death, skulls, skeletons, but I am not attracted at all to death culture or ed hardy styles or any of that. I do associate it with some negative stuff, but that has less to do with the borg than it does with life experience. Im not attracted to darkness or death. -

The year Michael Jackson, along with an entourage arrived at the Kingdome In Seattle. There were large limos and lots of big black guys. Had he really wanted anonymity, he wouldn't have come in a limo to an area no one else could park and make a spectacle out of himself. 3 guys no one makes special note of. . 8-12 is hard to miss, especially when they are huge and dressed better than anyone. I never saw them after that as im sure they had some VIP area set aside. This was mid 70s when the kingdome was new and cool. -

Cognitive Dissonance Runs Deep
by vinman inwhile it is true that maybe 1 or 2 things woke you up (like myself), it is interesting to reflect on the reality of what you did not believe, even if you were a true believer and would of died for the organization.
here is my list (not a complete list, i'm sure their is more).
what is your list like?.

I was raised in it and left when young. I had an interesting thought, maybe. . .when I was growing up, I was told it was the truth(tm). I understood there could only be one true religion and that was it. What I mean to say is that I didn't think I COULD question anything. The cognitive dissonance bit in full force. . .I questioned a few things that didn't make logical sense to me as a child(at a home,Thurs night, bookstudy when the wtbts answer in the book was stupid) and got scolded for it after my mom was counseled and she was mortified and I got huge spanking for my question. Studies are not to learn, but to parrot. Anyway, I kept telling myself for years that I was bad, wrong, disobedient, ungrateful, etc for even wondering to myself.
JWs like to say we leave for personal issues. . .and to some extent I think that's true. We usually stay in loyally for personal reasons, not so much actual devotion to the teachings. We let a lot of nonsense slide right by because on balance, it works. Many of us might not even question our own hypocrisy because our reasons for being a JWs are less spiritual than they are carnal, practical, familial reasons. BUT, have a personal thing come up that is connected to the WT and all the things that were easier to ignore suddenly become prominent or we no longer can ignore them or we realize how much we did so. The scale tips.
Most religion doesn't make it so much of an all or nothing proposition. The WT loses people more than other churches because any questioning is quashed. Once we question a teaching unique to jws, we have to balance our relationships and personal integrity/conscience Even those who stay in, but are mentally out, know what it is and they all have their ties, but those ties are because a relationship requires staying. The JW affiliation only rests on the life of a parent or spouse. I think JWs are internally more fractured than other churches, but they require dissidents to play in order to maintain relationships. Everyone is trapped by their partner/family.
