Welcome. You are gonna be fine. However, if you think it is the truth, it's going to keep sucking at your life and drawing you in. If you don't think it is the truth, get out of habit of saying it(calling it "the truth") asap. That will get your folks hopeful about your return. No sense in giving loving parents false hope or a roller coaster experience. Don't over think it. Zeb has a good idea. I think the reason such tax exemptions originally started was because churches and other, similar groups typically bring more value to a community than their tax contributions would. As we know, this is not true with the WTBTS or Jehovah's Witnesses. -

a jehovahs witness from stratford who took part in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl has been struggling with those demons for the last seven or eight years, a judge has heard.. but pleas for craig allen, who was said to have support from the jehovahs witness congregation, not to be jailed cut no ice with a judge at warwick crown court.. the 43 year-old of evesham road, dodwell, was jailed for two years and eight months and ordered to register as a sex offender for life after he pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child.. prosecutor andrew wallace said allen had met the girl in the mid-2000s through the church.. the girl, now a young woman in her 20s, said she began to fancy allen, who had started to pay her compliments.. then on one occasion when he gave her a lift, despite being fully aware she was only 15, allen sexually touched her.. she did not object or tell anyone what had happened, and there were further consensual incidents between them, including various types of sexual activity but not full intercourse.. someone who suspected what was going on between allen, a family man in his 30s, and the girl said something to her mother.. but when she challenged both her daughter and allen about what she had heard, they both denied it.. things stopped after the girl began to feel guilty about what was happening, and she eventually decided to come forward last year and contacted the police.. she said she had been dramatically affected by what had gone on, and that what happened with allen caused her to suffer a breakdown and still haunted her.. when allen was questioned by the police he accepted the incidents had taken place, but claimed it was the girl who had taken the lead.. elizabeth power, defending, said allen, who has a son and a daughter who were now both in their 20s, had attended for a voluntary interview with the police and made admissions.. he did not force himself on her but he was the adult and she was a child.

A fifteen year old is immature and set on proving how mature they are. An insecure one might be drawn particularly to an older attentive male.
Later she would be horrified when she realized she was manipulated and used by a married man who had kids her age. She would be concerned for his family and how he might be manipulating other young girls. She might well be in a real relationship and trying to deal with her actions towards his wife as she is contemplating marriage herself.
He is damn lucky his wife is forgiving, but he is paying a price for breaking civilizations rules. Morality has always been about protecting the integrity of the essential social unit, the family. Property value of women may have figured into it but adultery is the higher sin than fornication in every religion that I'm aware of for both genders. Now he was both morally and legally in the wrong and he will pay for it. There are reasons for laws about age of consent and he has 2years to think on it.
I wonder when he confessed to elders. They are standing by him. Maybe he is an elder, because a regular JW who doesn't promptly confess is usually judged unrepentant and DFd. Remember their video with the young guy who impregnated his bar hook up? Doesn't an elder get a free pass after 3 years?
I wonder what's happening to the girl in the org. I wonder if she confessed to elders and they urged her to report? I know th wtbts will be changing. I wonder if this is a start?

or do they cajole the kids through the 80 or so questions, not expecting right answers?.
i was never baptised, so i don't know the old drill or if there is a new one.. thanks.. my auto correct doesn't know there were 80 questions!.

by Pubsinger inso we know that wt settled out of court for an undisclosed sum and that presumably there was a 'gagging order' attached to the settlement.. not having really thought about what a 'confidentiality clause' meant before, i assumed in the past that it meant that you weren't allowed to disclose the amount of the settlement or any details about it.
but from the total and absolute silence once the settlement was made, i can only assume that it is a total gagging order.. how can the courts allow such a restriction to be put on a victim?
protecting the abusers and allowing the institution to cover up the lengths they go to to avoid admitting their guilt?

The original appellate decision stands. The only thing dismissed was the WTBTS appeal of the decision that declared them negligent and awarded her money. They came to a settlement related to the money that they were ordered to pay Candice. The courts decision stands and is a published verdict. The WT has that one as a loss, no matter how some JWs like to consider it a win. -

camping humbly apologized for making predictions and gave it up declaring that he was searching scriptures to be more faithful.. anyway, he had a lot in common with wt belief that all other churches are apostate.
i think the ministry is really struggling.

Well, I'm still think they false prophet mode of thinking. It's good they apologised and really repented, but they can't go back from it imo. They actually believed it. . .so they have a lot to change in the mentality. That doesn't change so easy. They are very wtbrs-like in some ways of thinking. -

I'm not worried about that cult. I just recognised that even though they were doing great $, they are about done now. When new money stops coming in, there is only one direction for them to go. WT is seeing it personally, I think assets and savings being used for operating expenses, combined with a rough market. They might be hanging on by their fingernails.
Also, even the Camping cult is more transparent with finances than the WT.
