i'm just curious if anybody knows.
firstly i don't take issue with the man making money from his books and if he was able to live comfortably from it then i say power to him.
but what i'm wanting to know was just how successful was it and did it allow him to live out the remainder of his years in comfort e.g buy a house, eat good food etc.
I don't see any way that he could have made much, if anything.
They were always hard to come by, reasonably priced and huge. It was a pricy book to print and ship because of size/ weight.
Not a big market and not interesting to those without a dog in the fight.
just a question, any savvy jewish lawyer shark types here who would like to go after the throat of this jw cult and send them to hell?
maybe take them to court over any number of topics and expose them for the evil cult they are?

Non profits usually close rather than file bankruptcy. The ones that do usually fulfill a vital role in the community. The WT does not run schools, shelters, medical facilities or orphanages. It would likely close. This would be when their assets were depleted to the point that incoming contributions could no longer maintain the remaining work and workers. After it gets down to some pathetic point where the lack of contributions and involvement could no longer be disguised.
At this point the severe cutbacks could be a ploy or they could be desperately scrambling for reasons which will later be exposed. Let's wait and see.

a number of years ago when i was still active, our service group was having a coffee break with the visiting circuit overseer.
during the conversation he mentioned that the "society" was now being run like a business.
being raised in the "truth" i thought that rather odd (and my eyes began to be opened!

i was sorting some papers tonight and came across a copy of the august 1980 km which announced the "apostasy against the organization" (a letter from the governing body) and has the notification that raymond franz was no longer a member of the governing body and bethel family.
i remember reading this just as i was making plans to disassociate myself at the same time.
this copy of the km was in some papers that belonged to my mother-in-law (who passed away several years ago).
