We are all happy for you, we've all felt your struggle and were rooting for you. It honestly feels like longer than a year-you are very established as a part of this group. I hope your life continues to open up, and that you find all the success and happiness that we all seek. Enjoy your little girl and teach her about all the everyday miracles that don't require perfection or paradise. Best ex JW lesson I've learned is that you don't have to wait to experience real happiness. It isn't in the unimaginable, ever distant future, its right here in your hand.

After the two I saw sitting by the sternwheeler in New Orleans with nothing but a WT propped up in their laps as they chatted and drank their coffee, I don't even pretend to myself that they want the spread the truth. They are just counting time. They know it doesn't matter, so they don't care. If they really believed they were doing a life saving work, none of that crap would begin to satisfy them.

Eh, being a JW isn't going to fix your problems, Bulldogg. It will just set off a bunch of new ones. Not knowing the nature of your relationship to your family or if they are JW or not or what the situation is really doesn't change my answer. If you have done things to screw up your life, make some positive steps to correcting it. If it involves repentance to God, you don't need the JWs. If it is a legal issue, religion isn't going to help. A lawyer might. If your relationships are messed up, do what you can-but don't become a JW. It is just the start of a bunch of new problems.
That being said, I have screwed up in a lot of ways and religion doesn't fix it. Goodness knows that the WT tells you that it will, that THEIRS will, but, it is a lie. You are in just the position now that JWs want you in. cowering, scared of the future and desperate. Really, this is not about a relationship with God, but finding a group of people who will give you some love bombing right now here on earth in this OLD system of things.. Any church would do, but the JWs are the one you know.
Spiritually, you need to right any wrongs you have done. Then you need to forgive yourself. If you believe in God, repent to God. God doesn't need a half baked organization that doesn't get ONE SINGLE PREDICTION or PROPHECY right. They can't decide what blood is. They change their rules about what makes you acceptable or not acceptable on a whim. You have enough problems in your life, you don't need that flaky bunch to give you guidance.

SWEDEN: JWs Have Right to State Funding
by darkspilver infyi - from sweden.
first an article from the swedish newspaper svenska dagbladet (via google translate).
jehovah's witnesses won against the government.

I don't think mosques, churches, kingdom halls, temples of any persuasion or christian science reading rooms should get state funding. That they don't have corporate income taxes is bad enough. That they often get out local shares of improvements etc is bad enough. But giving ANY religious group money for ??? boggles me. I don't like it one little bit-cause my opinion matters so much:) I think the ONLY things they should get any support for are those things directly supporting the greater community-like food banks or actual services-and then just allow them as deductions, like everyone gets when they donate to a charity.
I know I have a very US centric idea of taxes and all this, I really don't know how it works in other places. I think there is way too much money going to places that are ridiculous, and that they would give any to the WTBTS-an organization of which we all know too much-is insane.

Plenty here think he is out of his gourd for expecting anything in regards to accommodation. You may think that about everyone, or you may just assume every JW is out for a scam. I have read some claims and I agree, some are out for the$$$, BUT
when there are actually laws to protect people, they should be followed. If you don't like the laws, the answer isn't to denounce everyone who takes advantage of them (politicians excepted), but to change them. The thing is though, that those laws are to protect people from being retaliated against for just these reasons. Some hate. . women for thinking they can do whatever you can do, Jehovah's Witnesses for preaching at them, Blue collar workers who are getting uppity, blacks who are getting uppity, Muslims who dare to wear hijab, Men for being men, Bruce Jenner for calling himself Caitlin - or whatever. Just because folks are in authority doesn't mean they are mature.
Sometimes people have a "weak spot" whether it is a disability, being a minority, being ill or pregnant, or having a religion that a superior doesn't like-or just that someone doesn't LIKE them. Then, they are given roadblocks and expected to leap them.
Was he? I don't know. Clocking in late is just kind of . . . inexcusable to me. Memphis has plenty of Kingdom Halls. Jws abound. So, I don't have a LOT of sympathy for his not finding a job with timing that works. BUT, I don't know the facts. The EEOC has enough info to think that he deserves a fair hearing.
Some people do work the system, but some systems need work. Look at the WTBTS. They are a large enough organization to take care of things responsibly regarding children, to follow laws, to control their representatives and agents, but they screw that one up all the time. Maybe that big company in Memphis is back asswards and needs some educating. Or maybe he's just a jerk who's tired of working at all.

Wonderful! My first cruise was on a Disney cruise (before they were called that, they were the Big Red Boat(s).
My second cruise involved the biggest school of dolphins I ever saw that showed up in the middle of the ocean as a surprise for us. Wasn't planned (it couldn't be) and is one of the highlights of my storied life!
I hope this trip is truly magical for him. In every way! And I don't know why that org is granting him wishes, but I hope he is well and happy!

The WT has claimed in years past a clergy confidentiality while denying that they are clergy. While we are sorting THAT little contradiction out, they are also claiming that their silence is something about respecting the privacy of the confession. We know that this too is a contradiction, not to mention a hypocrisy as they actually have COMMITTEES to kick folks out, they announce them from the STAGE, write DETAILED REPORTS, call legal (They apparently have an entire department to deal with child abuse cases) to see how much they can get away with NOT reporting and do wild dances around the truth so they can avoid testifying when they are found out. They hire lawyers to try to justify it. They have been doing it for years and it is getting less and less successful with every passing case.
They have been trying to utilize the "privacy of the confessional" as if they are freaking CATHOLICS or something and guess what???? There is NOTHING in the Bible that says that such sin is private or should be hidden.
That their MORALS are convenient is pretty much typical of religionists like the WT, idiotic mullahs, insane preachers and dissolute priests/monks of all persuasions (my Buddhist friend has some stories, so this is not limited to the Judeo Christian tradition in any way). Men who want to control make up rules that suit their peccadillos, preferences and convenience.
