  about a month ago, i posted here about this fella standing outside of big lot's with magazines in his hand.. this morning, at about 11am, i went to big lot's to get some birdseed.

  well, lo and behold, there he was again.

  i said, "well, he is a jehovah's witness, and he is handing out literature.

  I was hitting the sauce way too hard and had to quit a year ago. Went to AA for a while and noticed the incredible similarities to JW meetings.

  Feel off the wagon a month ago and went back to a meeting with a friend. Explained stress and letting my guard down in my resolve and that I believed some anti-anxiety drugs may have triggered my binge.

  I was told that if I had been going to 3 or 4 meeting a week for the past year, I never would have had the stress in my life that would make me want to drink.

  I wasn't about to tell him that people's lives and circumstances (JW guilt in my case) don't disappear because you blindly go to AA meetings and hear all of these other people's horror stories.

  Yes, as a matter of fact, I believe AA is cult-like. Non-submission and attendance is strictly deemed as a recipe for automatic failure.

  BTW: This reminds me of a thread I've wanted to start for a while about AA's beginnings and the Society's rigid rules on meeting attendance possibly being linked to Rutherford's alcoholism. Stay tuned...

  New Generation understanding tied to Freddie Franz

  pierce, tied the overlap theory directly to fred franz's lifetime.. did anyone else catch this?.

  evidently (and i'm paraphrasing), anyone anointed after franz's death in 1992 is not of the 'generation'.. 5th.

  it is YOUR OWN FAULT. If you THINK the society set a date, which they didn´t do.

  That statement is just plainly historically wrong.

  Even intelligent JWs know it is.

  Outlaw,

  This is my last response regarding your know-it-all assumptions.

  My family WAS the family flying bethel members on vacation, giving money left and right to the Society and Overseers, having GB members staying in their homes.

  It curried no favour with the congregation. It actually added to the resentment of our money.

  My father regular-pioneered for 30 years and the feeling was it was no sacrifice because 'he can afford to'.

  That's the reality but feel free to keep correcting me.
