Let's get that Field Service Time in... Part 2

About a month ago, I posted here about this fella standing outside of Big Lot's with magazines in his hand.

This morning, at about 11am, I went to Big Lot's to get some birdseed. Well, lo and behold, there he was again. Standing there in his suit, and holding several magazines in his hands, as he paced back and forth under the shade of the tree in the parking lot.

As I went towards the store, I paused long enough to verify that they had signs posted that read something like...

"No soliciting or distributing pamphlets..." or something like that. I then turned towards the fella and approached him. I walked up to him and asked him, "Excuse me, are you handing those out?"

He perked up a bit, and seeing that I'm anglo said, "Yes, but they're in Spanish."

I said pointing to the sign, "Do you see that sign? It says that you're not to be distributing literature in this parking lot. It's against the law." (Okay, I know I may have been stretching the point a bit with tthe 'against the law' statement)

He squinted and looked at the sign, trying to read it, as if seeing it for the very first time.

    I said, "Uste avla English?"

He replied, in very good English, "Yes, I know English."

I said, "I know who you are, and what you're doing. Go home. I'm going inside and will report you." and I patted him on the shoulder as I left him standing there.

I went inside the store and approached a lady at the cash register. She wasn't too busy, so I said, "Excuse me. Do you see that man standing out there?" (By this time he had started walking down the parking lot.) "He is distributing literature in your parking lot. You have a sign that forbids it."

She looked a bit puzzled and confused and slowly said... "I don't think that sign is for us... I think it is for next door."

I said, "Well, he is a Jehovah's Witness, and he is handing out literature. He needs to quit it." I then went on my way to shop.

About five minutes later, I paid for my purchase, and went outside. The fella had moved on down the strip mall sidewalk and was coming back - magazines still in hand. There was some sort of security guard following behind him at about 50 feet behind.

Without missing a beat, I ignored the JW, and headed straight for the security guard. As I got closer, I saw 'WackenHut' on his shirt and badge.

I said, "Excuse me, do you see that fella? Keep an eye on him. He's a Jehovah's Witness. He's handing out literature."

The security guard said that he WAS watching him, so I left and went to my car. As I got in, I saw the security guard speaking with the JW, who then called it a day, and headed on over to his vehicle to leave.

Okay. I can hear most of you folks saying that I shouldn't have bothered the fella and left him alone. But you know what? I've done that in the past, and it don't do nuthin to stopping these people from bothering others who are innocent and don't know what they're up to.

By the way... I feel great! If I ever see this fella there again, I'll repeat this process, until he gets the hint and goes away.

He's probably driving home thinking that they're religion is soooooo holy and true, especially since he is personally experiencing 'persecution' in these 'last days'. (Who knows - he may have an assembly part where he gets to talk about it, too.)

    hahahahahahaha

    Regards,

You did well. He is recruiting, if successful he could recruit someone with kids who could become trapped in a mind controlling cult.

I don't have a problem with what you did, especially if the plaza's security guards were already tailing him. Well done! Regardless of what they think, Witnesses are not above the rules.

He should've known better. The Jehovah's Witnesses who my wife and I studied with told us that they do not go door to door in apartment complexes because there are usually no soliciting signs. Too bad salesmen trying to sell me magazines and frozen meat don't heed these signs.

Going to look up the "first" post about Big Lots...

I think the last one I read was about the Airport? Have to check it out and see...................................

    Found it!

The Jehovah's Witnesses who my wife and I studied with told us that they do not go door to door in apartment complexes because there are usually no soliciting signs.

Not all jws heed those signs and will try to find a way in. I've read many a tale on this board of jws somehow getting into secure apartment buildings that had no soliciting signs in plain sight.

My parents came over to visit me when I lived in a secure apartment building and as they were leaving I looked out my window, which faced the street, and saw a few jws walking down the sidewalk towards my building. My mother saw them too and stopped them. I saw her point up to my apartment and the next thing I know I get a call from the callbox downstairs from a gentleman claiming to be a book salesman and saying that my mother told him I was interested in what he had. I told him no thank you and hung up on him.

Geez, why lie about what you're really doing?
