  i dont have to get ready

  even if you have been out for a while, does it ever hit you that you don't have to get ready and rush out to a meeting?.

  i just looked at the clock, its 18.30, if i were still in i'd be screaming at the kids now to get ready for the book study, but here i am, not even made dinner yet.. life is good!

  Actually, I think it is one of the most speculative book the Society has put out.

  Inactive people, who show up only for the memorial.

  i have a friend who has been inactive as a witness for nearly six years.

  yesterday i mentioned that i had wednesday off and wanted to see if they wanted to get something done wednesday, we had been trying to find time for, for awhile now.

  out of the blue, they said "i can't, the memorial is wednesday.

  It's a pretty simple concept for me.

  The inactive must either still have respect for God, Christ and his sacrifice or want to please a mate.

  If it's the former then they may be sick of the WT and the brothers and the schedule but still respect that one arrangement because the command to observe is scriptural and it may be the only way they have ever known to do it.

  If it's the latter, wouldn't you do it if it got your wife off your back?

  Some funny comments.

  2. "At a time that does not interfere with spiritual activities, a few families may decide to enjoy a picnic together or play a game that is not overly competitive." Yeah, a Christian would never want to win a ballgame and hit the game winning homerun and feel good about themself. That may stumble someone.

  3. About a party: "Be careful that you do not leave the choice of music to someone who has yet to appreciate the need for keeping the volume at a moderate level." What does blasting music have to do with Christianity?

  And my favorite thing about the article entitled "Wholesome Recreation That Refreshes": The picture above the title is of a Kingdom Hall clean. Forget going to the beach... cause that's what I call recreation!!!

  said at our assembly that our research of the bible teaches us that jehovah is a "what have you done for me lately" god.. really nice!.

  Simple logic?

  the society says that jehovah is allowing time so that satan cannot refute the fact that man has tried "everything" and could not succeed without god.. the society also says that won't it be great when we are in the new system and can use our full brain capacity that we were created with.

  just think what we will be able to accomplish when we can use more than 0.01% of our brain.. uhhm, am i missing something?

  to me, based on those reasonings, it is totally logical to now say that satan will always be able to say that man was not given a proper chance to rule themselves because they were essentially handicapped.. just something new keeping me up at night these days!

  don't know if this has been discussed but why does the society not df someone who violates the direct command to go door-to-door but will df for things not specifically mentioned in the bible?.

  any thoughts?.

  Criticisim

  i have to say that generally the criticism on this board toward jws is over the top.. i personally have huge problems with the 'truth' right now in my life but i notice the ones who have literally nothing good to say about anything.. there are a lot of good witnesses and a lot of good doctrine and a lot of good motives among jws.. criticism fine, but jesus commended when due.. .

  WT reads:

  "...one hair seems just like the next, and no single hair seems to deserve our particular scrutiny. Yet each hair is noticed and numbered by Jehovah God. Since this is the case, is there any detail of our life that Jehovah cannot know?..."

  Sorry, but how can ANYONE, let alone the Society, think that this scripture is actually LITERAL?

  We all lose thousands of hairs a day but Jehovah is preoccupied by literally counting them all? At the same time he CHOOSES not to know the future?

  Pretty hard to understand.

  members with drinking problems.. i find that i have been drinking far too much and am trying to cut way down.

  I am seriously wondering how the elders deal with this if you go to them for help. Will they monitor you like hawks? If you relasp could you be DFd?

  Seems it's an area you don't want to be honest about. Never been an elder so I don't know.

  Any one with practical experience in this?
