our congregation had a number of elderly ones who regularly complained that no one ever helped them.
since the elders didn't really want to be responsible for them, they decreed that the family should help out first.
fair enough.
We once had this a%#hole MS in our congo (who wanted to be an elder so bad that he probably carried chap-stick around because his lips were so chapped from kissing butt) who REFUSED to bring an elderly Sister who lived in his building to the meetings.
Thankfully the selfish prick is still not an elder 8 years later.

The Society will survive indefinitely because its core message is very appealing to a lot of people. Even to me still.

No one has yet mentioned that he also has 10 children and his elderly parents live with him and his family in a one room straw hut, which he made after he sold his four bedroom suburban home so he could live a simpler life. All profit from that sale went to the WT, of course.
Then... because he abandoned everything for the truth, when the local militia came to imprison any Witnesses they could find, all of the literature in his hut miraculously disappeared before their eyes and the soldiers had no choice but to leave dazed and confused! Another miracle!
