The morning symposium about God's qualities was actually pretty good.
The fact that many JWs don't follow the principles is sad.

The afternoon talk that I've mentioned a few times here was the one full of the usual non-biblical speculation.
by a girl at work.
i asked "what specifically?".
"the symposiums were great, each segment was short enough to keep you engaged" was the response.. my reply "so the wts is catering for the short attention span tv generation.".

LOL @ minimus.
Most of my friends in the truth had very little. They were the 'poor pioneers'. They were also the nicest, most fun friends anyone could have.
My best friend once told me that what he loved about me is that, even though I had money, I never acted or behaved like someone who did. That was the greatest compliment anyone has ever given me.
Now I'm sad that I lost all these friends 'cause I stopped going to the meetings.

they really weren't part of the social make-up of the congregation
A lot of well off JWs feel unwelcome in the regular social make-up because of the criticism they draw from having unrighteous riches.
That being said, I actually never hung around other JWs with money because I hate the snob factor of a lot of people with money. JW or not.

Would you like to tell me about my life?..
My apologies if I jumped to conclusions.
Your assumption that JWs with money have an easier time in the congregation indicates to me that you haven't experienced it because the exact opposite is true. As to your personal circumstances, I couldn't care less.

undercover. Your observations are bang on. I used to get counseled for as stupid a thing as wearing too expensive suits for crying out loud.
br.
pierce addressed the rising number of memorial partakers at the convention on sunday.. he said that many are asking why the number of partakers is going up year after year.. his response (paraphrasing): "it's none of our business.
it's jehovah's business".. in other words, shut up and keep your place.. 5th.
to make the number of new anointed irrelevant
Great point pirata.

It's not a fact.
My family has been castigated, criticised and looked down on for decades for having money.
Outlaw, there are things that you need to experience before you can claim to be an expert on them.

also don't know if this has been mentioned previously.. our speaker yesterday, gb member br.
pierce, tied the overlap theory directly to fred franz's lifetime.. did anyone else catch this?.
evidently (and i'm paraphrasing), anyone anointed after franz's death in 1992 is not of the 'generation'.. 5th.
Was the speakers saying "this 2nd generation" is not of the anointed and will not serve in heaven?
No. He was simply saying that those anointed in the past 20 years are not part of THE generation that will by no means pass away before all these things occur.

Sorry Outlaw.
I have money and it actually caused more grief than anything else in Watchtower World.
