Thank you. I'm certain I'm quite beyond it all now, except for a few clingons. In fact, I was hesitant to join this forum for some time and had to evaluate why I considered doing so. Did I want to so I could heal? Or was there another reason? I found that I was quite over it and just felt that I might be able to lend a certain perspective to others dealing with traumatic experiences.

That is a fantastic idea!
But I would modify - "I just got kicked out of a gay bashing, mind controlling Christian cult" to lure more of the Goths in.
(recovering Goth as well)

Get a jump on them. It's Friday! Go out with friends and celebrate your freedom, on your terms!
I really do understand where you're coming from. I went through similar almost 15 years ago. Good luck!

I'll finally be able to truthfully say that I'm NOT a witness. At present, I think they still count me as one, and I'm looking forward to losing that designation.
Yet how can you say you are truly free from the organization if you still use their opinions of you as any sort of a measure? If you don't feel like a witness, then you can already truthfully say you are NOT a witness.
You see, if you allow the org to make the "official" decision whether you are or not, you are still allowing them to have power over you. I say forget about it. Maybe have your own party regardless as to whether they "officially" Df you or not, celebrating your freedom now, by your own choice.

Any suggestions as to how to mark this passage I'm about to make, from bondage to freedom?
I suspect your voyage ended some time ago. You are now just expecting acknowledgement from this corrupt organization. I would suggest paying no attention whatsoever what the Society labels you. You decide, and move on with your life.

Lend me your Apostapowers, trying to help someone out of the org
by wanderlustguy inok, i'm finally starting some dialogue with my brother, i've let him know that i have questions that no one can answer, and he says to send them over so he can either answer them or get answers, and that no question is disallowed or "apostate".
he sent me an article (from 08.15.04 wt, thanks blondie!
) via e-mail, on which i pointed out one simple question on reply to him, which he has replied to.

Then the troof shouldn't be called "the truth"... it should be called "the honesty"...
the "what we think to be true now, but may not be so at a later time".

This frustrates me to no end. In my years of being a JW, I knew very, very few pioneers who seemed to really be happy.
In fact, the only JWs I knew that seemed to be sincerely happy were the ones who balanced secular life with their spiritual life. They did pursue a moderate amount of worldly wealth, enjoying what this life has to offer, at the same time being quite active in the congregation. A large portion of them were businessmen of one sort of another, most with educations. And a large portion of their children went into higher education as well, or were placed in one of the Elder cronies businesses, or were otherwise pruned for the secular world. And yet all the while warning against the spiritual dangers of all of these things.
They enjoyed yearly ski trips, large houses, nice cars (BMW, BENZ, etc.)... And these were mostly elders. While the ones who were most active and most shunned worldly accomplishments were treated as underdogs. Hmm, sounds familiar... sounds much like the worldly, secular class system here in the US.
I can't wait until my parents come back from their convention. I get to hear how inspired they feel and how wonderful brother So-and-so's talk was and how strong this other So-and-so is. And weeks later, when the buzz is gone, I note how lonely they are since they are not of the "Upper class" of JWs and rarely get invited to anything and rarely get visits, unless on Sat. after service, even though my mother has been battling cancer for years. How uplifting.

I've met some of you already. I'm not a recent ex-JW though.
I have noted some discomfort lately (the past three years or so) in some of the long-time Witnesses I know. Most often mentioned is a feeling that elders are two-faced; that when a Witness needs spiritual help, it is rarely offered, and then only cursorily; that there is an "in-crowd" that gets away with many things when the truly meek are pounced upon fiercely when they are stumbled; that there is very little in the way of consistency in disciplinary actions... the list goes on.

Reverse Paranoia
by Farkel injehovah's witnesses have a kind of reverse paranoia: they believe everyone else is out there and that satan is out there and satan's minions are out there with only one goal in mind: to make dubs be happy.
it scares the heck out of them and they're afraid someone might actually succeed!

That is what you say, but is not what Farkel appears to be saying, to me. Is Farkel saying that Satan and His followers are out there to make JWs happy within the Org? Or as you say, to tempt them into being happy in the World? I tend to be literal. :o
