they say every person in the org was pick by jehova so thats that mean that the kids that leave the truth are not?.?.?.

i dont get that i ask couple elders and they don't have a answear.... if everybody is pick by jehova why preach.?.?.

I recall it was addressed this way... that a rank and file may have been drawn in, but they still retain free will and if they don't truly have and maintain those "sheeplike qualities" that they may, again of their own free will, fall away.

a modern twist on the shun the other day: somehow an old jw friend had added me to her facebook friends a few months ago.

i thought i'd leave her alone for a while, figured she'd read my blog and discovered my current opinion on the organisation and what they did to my family.

i hadn't messaged her, but the other day i'm on and notice that she's online, so i start a chat.

Last time I was asked that loaded question was by the father of an old JW friend. He ask how I was "doing spiritually" and I answered, quite honestly, "I'm doing great!" and went on to talk briefly about other things. And then I guess he hadn't been satisfied with my answer and so he mentioned meetings, etc. and so I had to say "Oh no, I've not been to a meeting in some time," just as jovially, at which point he turned cold. The hubris to think that I have to be an active JW to be doing good "spiritually"... but... now that I think about it, what does that even mean anyway? 0_o

The Butchering of the English Language.

i am disturbed by the recent trend in the media in america that encourages the butchering of our english language.. i'm talking about examples of film titles like "she hate me", "how she move", & "baby mama".

does it really take that much effort to add an "s" to the end of a word?

now, before i am decried as a racist, please note that nowhere in any of my statements have i isolated any particular race.

Considering the origins of English ( butchered Saxon-French) I don't really care.

I'll admit there is a part of me that cringes on occasion at this sort of thing. However, language lives, and today's infractions are tomorrow's celebrations.

WTS, the Bible, and Mayan/Pagan beliefs

does anyone see a coorelation between recent changes in the wts, the "urgency" at hand that they keep saying, and the coming of 2012 prophecies of the mayan (end of an era and the coming of kulkulcan) and other cultures that center on that date?

i often wonder if the gb are going outside the bounds of the bible and looking at other cultures to verify or solidify that the end is nigh.

thoughts?

Interesting though that I had not considered...

However, by implication that would mean that the WBTS is not necessarily the origin of "true" teachings regarding "then end", if the Mayan calendar predicts a specific date and the WBTS did not.
