what are some stupid analogies that you here dubs use all the time to explain their faulty, destructing teachings?
or maybe ones you've used in the past that when you think about them now, make you cringe?.
here are a few that come to mind:.
"There is NO CAUSE for stumbling"...Translation=You left the truth because you wanted to, it's your fault, your heart became wicked, you weren't of our sort, disregard that whole millstone thing, etc. etc.
I learned the hard way too Lady Lee. Why aren't names signed by the ones who write the articles in their publications if they're so hip on knowing whose writing what??
.
this is due to air on tuesday.
did any one write in?.
It's not on his website yet for some reason. I saw the teaser during his show yesterday too. It said something like "life in a cult" coming up on tuesday. I know that he's been looking to talk to families of cult members since last October so it should be interesting. We'll just have to wait and see.
does anyone remember pope john paul i ?
he was elected in 1978, and died 33 days later, leading the way for pope john paul ii.
(now maybe that was a conspiracy)
The only thing I ever heard was that this last pope(I think) had a fleshly brother who is/was a JW. I always wondered if there was any truth to that or just another one of the MANY JW urban legends.
i was watching an old eddie murphy hbo special a few weeks ago where he was talking about relationships.
in his bit, he went off on how all men cheat on their wives and girlfriends.
he was adamant that even the nicest of guys will take the opportunity to cheat if given the chance and that women need to understand that this is the way it is, 100% of the time.

He was adamant that even the nicest of guys will take the opportunity to cheat if given the chance and that women need to understand that this is the way it is, 100% of the time. Even though he was doing his comedian take on things, I was abit shocked at how he kept hammering away at the validity of his claim. I mean, the guy gave absolutely no leeway for doubt. He recorded this special during the eighties before he was married. The next day, I told my husband about this and asked his thoughts. He reluctantly told me that he personally feels that 98% of men would cheat if given the opportunity. Shocked again! Of course, HE is in that 2% that would not cheat. lol So guys(and gals).....do you agree with Eddie's perspective? Would ALL men cheat if given an "opening"?
dr. phil is looking to talk to people who feel a family member may be involved with a cult.
check it out if you'd like on his website (drphil.com) under "be on the show".

The good doctor is asking to speak to people who have family members who are involved with a cult. I don't know what could possibly be accomplished by talking with these people since they are not the ones in the cult. What advise or help can he give to them? Tell them to hire a deprogrammer? Show them how to REASON with their loved one in the cult? Their loved one is in a cult, for christ sake! I can't see how this show will fly unless he can get people who are actually IN an accused cult to appear as well as their concerned family members. Or, as being said here, EX members. Now that would be interesting and eye opening and maybe truly help someone.
i'm thinking of taking a vacation to hawaii.
i've not researched it yet so i don't know which island to stay on and don't know what there is to see or do besides snorkeling and don ho.
for any who have been, can you share your opinions and perhaps some advice based on your experience in paradise?
Thank you all so very much for your feedback and comments. I can't wait to start planning my trip with your suggestions in mind.
Cyberguy...you lucky, lucky man!
Thanks again everyone!

for me it was the realization that there was no "faithful & discreet slave", that all the prophecies "proving" that jehovah's witnesses are the only religion approved by god is bogus and the realization that this is a "cult" and there is no real normal sense of love and affection in the "truth".
I began having physical symptoms of some sort of meltdown. I started having panic attacks, couldn't complete my presentation at the doors, stopped giving talks because of feeling unsafe and unloved among those people. The dissonance made me start to look within and ask myself WHY was I feeling this way? WHY, when I was doing all that I possibly could to serve God and live a deeply spiritual life? I started having open, honest conversations with my children about how they really felt about our religion. They weren't happy, I wasn't happy...there was no joy.
Then I got online and went apostate within minutes.
