  What do you feel is truly and absolutely IMPOSSIBLE?

  a friend of mine told me tonight that he believes something is impossible.

  this happens to be a something that i feel is not only possible, but 100% proven beyond all doubt.

  It is so naive to lump all homosexuals into one box. There are a multitude of reasons why people become or more accurately are homosexual. And there are various types, ranging from mostly staight, to bi, to so gay they would never touch someone of the opposite sex.

  I am amazed at how many JWs still hold to this same narrow view that all gays are really straight but misguided.

  i am still "in" the org, still serving "faithfully" in the hall that i grew up in.

  my father is the po and i am part somewhat of a dynasty, with all my extended family being witnesses.

  Great to have you here. If you have been lurking for a while I imagine you are already aware the the WTS does not represent truth. I hope being here can help you move on in your life without too much turmoil. It is always going to be difficult if your father is PO and you are baptised, but ask away and I am sure someone will have advise here to greatly help you on your way.

  What will you do to celebrate Oct 2 2014?

  like most people reading this, i was convinced that by 2014 the new system would 'definitely' have been operating for at least a decade.

  now that i know this is not going to be the case i am going to have to think of some way to recognise 100 years of wts let downs and failed predictions.

  there is no point fretting over the past so i think it will be a good time to celebrate.

  Something went wrong and lost 3/4 of the quotes.

  Anyway, don't know why the emphasis on Oct, but a most of the references to Oct all are based around the WTS's own made up chronology. The following are a few I found in the mags:

  • Jesus born October 2BCE
  • Adam created October
  • Overthrow of Jersusalem October 607
  • Overthrown of Babylon by Cyrus October 539
  • Start of Jewish New Year October

  I can't find any justification for most of the above statements though. Just the WTS saying it is so.

  i have relatives in the jehovah's witness religion still, and in-laws.

  because my spouse and me were never officially disfellowshipped, they have a hard time with how to shun us.

  basically, they don't.

  I have two different d/f friends that were shunned for years, until they have children. Then the story changed. The grandparents could not bear to miss out on seeing the grandchildren grow up and started to associate with them again, on the justification that it is best for the grandchildren. Funny how the grandchild bond can be stronger than the WTS.

  Then again I do know other grandparents that have never seen the grandchildren because the parents are d/f. Disgusting!!!

  World War I did not start during the last days

  jehovah's witnesses place great emphasis on world war i proving that the last days started in 1914. what few realise is that world war one started prior to the start of the last days.

  the war started in aug whereas the wts claims the last days started on october 2 1914. this means that wwi started during the gentile times and as such can not be claimed to be an indication of the last days.. i asked my pioneer school conductor about this and he claimed that satan started wwi in august as a smokescreen to divert peoples attention from jesus rulership talking place shortly afterwards.

  this is an unsubstantiated excuse.

  Johnny you are right about what was originally said was the reason, but as with most things the WTS changes it's reasons over time.

  I found the article that the elder must have taken his info from. w72 6/1 p.351 says " The start of that sanuinary conflict was doubtless part of his scheme to blind persons to what had happened in the heavens in fulfillment of Bible Prophecy and also, if at all possible, to hinder the Kingdom from ruling over the world of mankind."

  Love the typical WTS speak. 1914 was doubtless to be the end. Now it is doubtless that it was the start and doubtlessly Satan chose the wrong month to start WWI for the reason to blind everyone. Words like doubtless generally precede Watchtower statements that have absolutely nothing to back them up, an effective way to stop the mindless reader questioning the validity.

  D'Fing and Love

  i once talked to a jw about disfellowshipping and was curious to how can this be showing a christly love when you all out turn your back on them.

  he gave me an answer about rightousness and unrightrousness having no fellowship (which is biblical) but it didnt make sense to me.

  didnt seem applicable in many ways.

  D/F and love do not belong in the same sentence because JWs do not practice D/F in line with bible guidelines.

  The context of d/f is to stop socialising with practicers of bad in order to not end up practicing their bad ways. This does not mean they are to be totally ignored at the KH. It is only the Antichrist as referred to at 1 John where the idea is given not to even greet the person. There is wisdom in totally stopping talking to a person that is only intent on tearing down a persons faith.

  However the bible does not say a person not associating as a 'brother' must be ignored for life by friends and family. It is this going past the scriptural guidance that makes the WTS a high control group rather than practicers of Christianity.

  Prophecor, you look pretty hot for a guy!

  Not only are we advancing technologically, we also are advancing in our understanding of basic human riots. Though there are still many horrific violations at least many societies now has clearly defined rules in regards to women, child, war crimes etc. I also believe that though many people are moving away from religion there are many people that are more spiritual as a result, due to relying of finding spirituality rather than blindly following the rules of men.
