  JW.ORG logo on EVERYTHING

  fine line between idolotry and branding... just sayin.... .

  i'm just seeing a lot of home-made or print on demand site items with jw.org logos pasted all over.

  as an art director, i laugh, because it's hideous.

  JWs pay out Christians for wearing a cross as being idolatry. They reason that the person must be idolising the symbol, rather than using it as a reminder of Jesus. How is it different that the jw.org logo is not considered the same. In fact it should be considered to be worse, as it is idolising an organisation instead of Jesus.

  The jw.org logo is a reminder of the organisation, just as the cross is a reminder of Jesus, and not an idol at all. But it does highlight the double standard JWs have for themselves when compared to others.

  Bethel experiences sound like a prison sentence.Why even go?

  when i read about bethel experiences my mind go to the show locked up raw!.

  why would someone subject themselves to this without commeting a crime.. the wife and i went to see bethel in broklyn a few years ago and it was unlike anything i expected.

  very cold.. went the bosert hotel and was talking to a brother there and asked how long he had been there, he said 25 years...i asked how old he was.

  I knew after a tour of bethel that I would hate it but went anyway. I thought it was what Jehovah required of me for the short time before Armageddon. I never expected there was ever going to be the need to save for retirement.

  pros and cons of anti depessants?

  obviously i'm having ex cult issues, family still in and a wife that's all kokoo for cocopuffs as well as our marriage isn't good.

  i would like to leave her, she has never been the kind of wife i wanted.

  anyway the stress is getting to be to much, thinking about things all the time and its effecting my work as well as otherthings.

  I would only take them as a last resort. I Was in a similar state to you when leaving. My doctor discouraged them, though eventually I did go on some for about 3 months. I was worried about becoming dependant on them for my happiness.

  What really worked was an 8 session course with a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. It is a simple concept where your train yourself to see the positive instead of the negative in situations. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  To stop your mind going around in circles, write things down. The issue, the solutions, the outcome etc. That is how jwfacts.com came about.

  i used to be very impressed with convention experiences regarding how worldly employers would hire jws because they were known as the most honest workers.

  i was too indoctrinated to realise these were selective experiences, and there are plenty of experiences of jws being dishonest in the workforce.

  i have received a couple recently by email.. i have cut quite a bit out of the following email i received so that the person and company cannot be indentified, but you will get the message.. .

  ruderhead - I know of other stories of foolish jw workers, but I also know of some who give their best to their employers when they are at their jobs. Probably reflects the general population

  Totally agree. I have found that there are all sorts of JWs, just like in the general population. Some you relate to, some you can trust, and others you don't and can't. Quite unlike the propoganda (thanks Oubliette) in the Watchtower.

  Here are parts from another email that I have received.

  I am from SOUTH AFRICA and my cousin is working for a JW business. We are Christians and cannot believe that they are supposed to be SO dedicated but do some terrible things!

  They pay their staff the lowest wage possible.

  They use old parts which they "clean up" and charge customer for "new" ones.

  They Drink excessively

  Accuse people falsely (stealing their things)

  SURELY.......if they are such "holy people" how can they behave like that? They are hypocrites - seem to have no conscience ??? They spend so much money on themselves and waste food by throwing in bin and not offering to the staff who are all battling! They gave my cousin a book called "REASONING from the SCRIPTURES". Don't they use a Bible?

  It reminds me of when I worked part time for an elder doing some construction work when I was a pioneer. He said he was shocked at how hard I worked, as all the other pioneers that worked for him were so lazy. He thought pioneers only did so because they were trying to get out of full time work.

  Phizzy - There is real danger in employing too many of them, one JW I know got DF'd and 99% of his JW employess walked out that day!

  That is a very real danger for any JW. I guess most do not expect to get disfellowshipped, but it can happen to anyone. It is a good warning for anyone fading that is reading this and employs JWs.

  The other problem of having too many JW employees is they all expect to have the conventions and special months as holidays at the same time.

  I fired an employee who is a member of the JW’s because I could no longer trust her integrity to carry out her duties without passive aggressively bad mouthing and undermining me behind my back. There were many incidents which I do not want to list here and take too much of your time to read.

  Because of her strong JW association, out of respect for her religion, I no longer had office celebrations such as birthdays, Christmas parties, and other “religious” celebrations. ... She then proceeded to threaten me by saying she will drag my good name through the mud. All the allegations she made about me are false. She filed a complaint saying she was discriminated due to her religion, which is entirely false, since in the past, I have hired JWs.
