6 branches subsidize the rest of the branches.
by hoser ini went to the meeting this morning and we had some guy from overseas bethel give the public talk.
6 countries subsidize the rest.
he said in some countries all the donations that they get from contributions don't even pay the electricity bill for the branch buildings so money has to come in from these 6 richer countries.

This foot-peddling expenditure of energy and effort exemplifies circularity as waste.
People come to your door telling you to look at the website, which asks if you would like to sign up for people to come to your door for a Bible study.

It is a real catch-22. They want to boast about growth, but can only realise it amongst the poorer less educated areas. Ideally they should only print Bibles, put everything else online and push for more donations, but that only works for the rich countries. Poorer ones need the cost and labour intensive methods from last century that cannot be afforded anymore.

Bats, good find. It seems Rutherford must have changed it to Aug after 1914 to align with the War. It would be interesting to know when it moved back to Oct.

Dr. Kent Bradly and Dr. Nancy Writebol's healings Prove to me there is a God!
by BucketShopBill ini get tired of using the argument of "the mystery of evil" to attack god but where are we when we see heroic acts of godly courage from great humans like dr. kent bradly and dr. nancy writebols wonderful works of love?
did you listen to dr. kent bradley's concern and loving compassion for west africa?
he's not angry superstitious mobs destroyed several make-shift medical facilities to treat victims of ebola, no, dr. bradly implored the world to "help save west africa".

I agree. It always annoys me when someone thanks God for something that didn't happen to those around them. How is that supposed to make those less fortunate feel. Like when someone praises god for saving them in an accident the kills other people. How is it that people do not get the lack of logic in such statement, or recognize how insulting it is to the others.

It is somewhat offensive that you take away from these Doctors the recognition that they have done a wonderful work, by trying to attribute it to evidence of God. God does not take away the suffering, even though he could end it all in an instance, it is left up to both believers and non-believers out of the goodness of their own hearts to have to do what little they can.

How to Avoid the Faithless Spirit of most here-
by DocHouse in1- pray to god (whomever you may imagine him to be) asking for understanding.
2- study the background about the bible (from non-religious sources) to see where it came from.
3- discard (or at least set aside) chuyrch claims and dogma.. 4- read it, looking up archaeological/historical sources about the places and peoples referred to.

Ironically, those are the steps that are most effective in leading to a lack of faith.

Have you ever been called for Jury Duty? before or after registering to vote?
by EndofMysteries ini've never been called for jury duty and i'm not yet registered to vote, although i'm hoping to get that done this month.
i know someone who within a few months of registering to vote was called for jury duty.
i've read some articles that said voter records 'used' to be used to call on people but that was a thing of the past.

I have been called, but as Julia said, it is compulsory to register and vote in Australia, so most JWs register. The time I went was very interesting. Luckily the plea was changed from not guilty to guilty during the day, so I only had to stay for one day.

feeling like a true apostate today
by truthwillsetyoufree init was back in 2011 when i was convinced that jws dont have the truth.
i rejected so many teachings and was open about that to members of my family.
it took me another year to pluck up the courage to attend other churches.

I advised him to put a no religious callers sign on the door to prevent it from happening again.
Good advice, since the old lady may be too timid to tell them she is not interested next time they come around.
