Toole used to be a very good looking, charismatic man. His wife was the most fun Circuit Overseers wife that I know. I cannot believe how he has aged and how worn out he is looking since we last met 10 years ago.

Spinks is saying Jehovah's Witnesses have absolute authority for the law. Did he forget the Scripture "Obey God as ruler rather than men."
Oh no, here it comes. Love how he refers to how good they were by refusing to obey the Nazis. Well what about when the RC recommend having a female on a judicial committee. Or not needing two witnesses.

by sparrowdown inis this rc triggering any painful memories for anyone else?
.
for me, it's stirring up all the emotions of what it felt like dealing with assholes like this.

I am attending in person, and am a lot more stressed than I expected. Seeing some of the people I worked with at bethel, and listening to the obnoxious, authoritarian elders is bringing back bad memories of the constant fear and guilt that I felt under their strong thumbs.

He keeps saying the "judicial committee" process cannot change as it is based on the Scriptures. Where in the Scriptures does the term "judicial committee" appear, where does it outline the rules for it to be held by 3 elders in a closed forum? -

Spinks says they can change policy without GB guidance. I'd like Stewart to ask if they could make a policy, as recommended by the RC, that a female be part of the judicial committee, without GB approval. -

Spinks was completely wrong regarding the interpretation of the paragraph on having witnesses. He kept contradicting McCellan, even though McCellan was correct. I can't tell if he is lying or just getting lost in his own mire of refuse that is pouring forth from his mouth. -

How can O'Brien (Australian Branch) assist, and not Jackson (Governing Body), as suggested by the legal team? "The local branch has significant flexibility in adapting ..."
So what they are suggesting is that there will not be a global fix, just small changes to fit in with each country.

The Royal Commission would like to know what the way forward is to having Jehovah's Witnesses improve their policies. The existing policies are considered to have "serious issues". McClellan does not seem impressed that the Governing Body is not prepared to send someone to attend. -

Wow, "the Governing Body are not involved in the formulation of policies or procedures" regarding child abuse. Quite a statement. -

The letter to elders has been explained to be lacking, because although it says not to prevent the abused going to the authorities, it does not explain when an elder should go to the authorities.
