What Qualifications does Geoffrey Jackson have as a Translator of the Bible ? In any Capacity ?
by smiddy ingeoffrey jackson left school at the age of 15 and began pioneering , he never attended a university ,never studied ancient greek ,hebrew or aramaic at any recognized teaching academy , he has no certificates or credentials / qualifications from any place of learning that is approved by a competent body of religious instruction .. and by his own words at the australian royal commission , under oath he stated that was his primary role as a translator of scripture into other languages .. a 15 year old drop out from school in australia is the chief/ prime translator of the bible for jehovah`s witnesses world wide in their many languages that they preach in .. it would be very interesting to see his report cards for those few years he did attend school .. is it just me , or does anybody else see that his qualifications don`t come up to scratch to be a translator of the old testament or the new testament scriptures , and be taken seriously as a translator of either , into any language.. if i am wrong anywhere in this post feel free to correct me .. smiddy.

His discussion at the RC about "the rod" was totally wrong, both according to the original text and Watchtower interpretation of Proverbs. -

I have known of a couple of cases, but it is very unlikely to work for most people.
In one case, the person was gambling before and after baptism. They pleaded the case that they had not been baptised with the correct understanding, and got baptised again.
The second one was a person with mental illness that was engaged in wrongdoing before and after baptism. It was decided that due to her circumstances the baptism had never been valid and they just let her leave.
I unsuccessfully tried the get an annulment. The results are here http://jwfacts.com/watchtower/experiences/grundy.php.

The podcasts get over one million downloads and the live radio interview has hundreds of thousands of listeners. I could not believe how many people I knew regularly listen to the show and contacted me after hearing it.

Look out for a new congregation position for elders wives: Helper to the Elders
by Splash ingeoffrey jackson spent 20 minutes accepting the position that it is not scripturally prohibited for women to be used in the investigation process, although probably not the jc itself (he said he'd check the scriptures on that bit, but we can guess the outcome).. look out for the wives of elders jostling for and gaining these positions.
there will be no better opportunity for gossip mongers to raise their status in the congregation than being officially involved in the intimate private business of others in the congregation.. think of the power they will have in advising the elders on a jc if she thinks the victim is credible, with her opinion, bias and embellishments on the details.
i wouldn't fancy the chances of a victim who has previously fallen out with one of these 'helpers'.. whatever next, sisters handling microphones??!

I was impressed with this recommendation so it is interesting to see this alternative point of view.
At the end of the day, virtually no JW is trained for such situations and it is imperative that an accusations are referred to trained authorities to establish the facts.

I attended today and had some very interesting conversations. As much as the JWs will gloat over how much better GJ did than those that preceded him, the attendants were very frustrated at his evasive and baseless answers.
McClellan is particularly unimpressed by Watchtowers opinion of women. It will be interesting to see how he frames his recommendations.

Do video games cause bad behaviour in children?
by The Rebel inmy boy is 10 and has got very interested in pocamon cards.
( a game way to complicated for me to understand) but i've also noticed it's linked to a computer game, which seems harmless enough but i also noticed advertisements for more violent games appear.. i would value people's opinion on whether, you think video games cause bad behaviour in kids.
i should mention my kid says i limit his time on these games, much more than other children's parents, and i was thinking of reevaluating that rule.. thanks.. the rebel..

Kids need something to make the hours go by. When I was a kid everyone was so worried about watching tv. Now its video games, or the internet. I was just in Cuba, and they are too poor to have video games so the kids play marbles in the dirt. I don't really see any difference between each of these activities. However, there should be some time limits, and encouragement to do physical activities as well.

What is their official explanation for not allowing beards?
by keyser soze ini ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.

Here is a comprehensive article on JWs and beards - jwfacts.com/watchtower/beards-jehovahs-witnesses.php

leaving_quietly - that is a interesting photo. It is not quite a beard, but amazing that they expect the resurrected to comply with today's fashion. Why not the fashion of Moses, or Jesus, or Adam?

Gross hypocrisy in September 15, 2015 Watchtower
by Island Man inask any jw the question "why do jehovah's witnesses impose their views on others?
we do not impose our views on anyone!".
do you impose your views on others?

Good point.
On another note, this article is going to stumble a lot of Jehovah's Witnesses. I know many that are in these pyramid schemes, including some that make a very wealthy living off them.

"And what happened next was simply unbelievable!"
by Terry ini always sit in the same spot, just outside starbucks in a vestibule area with a table in the air-conditioned space.
i say "always," but not today.. somebody with two laptops and a table filled with business ledgers was in "my" favorite spot!.
so, i took a tiny wooden table inside the coffee shop on a long padded bench next to 3 other identical tables.. as the clickbait banner ads like to say: "and what happened next was simply unbelievable!".
