My bible study conductor said he bought a wooden crocodile in Papua New Guinea and then started having demon attacks. He cut it in pieces and threw it out but it appeared whole again on his doorstep. He then tried to burn it and it took hours to burn.
I always wonder if it is an urban myth, except he claimed it happened to him

Superstitious JW Nonsense
by 95stormfront inone of my jw relatives was relating to me another one of their superstitious nonsense stories designed to demonize every damn thing that doesn't fall into an approved wt list.
she was telling me about a her friend, who upon cleaning a relatives house, found a voodoo doll with a prayer to demons written on paper that it took an hour to burn.
she also related to me how in the hour it took to burn the demon paper prayer, everyone around them getting sick and falling into convulsions.. i guess she was a little perturbed that i was .

hello all - new here
by GoingGoingGone inhello everyone, this is my first post.... i'm in the process of fading after being a jw my entire life (almost).
i don't go to meetings anymore..... hubby's an elder, and boy, is he mad.
he still makes the kids go with him to meetings, service, etc... they hate it and i feel sorry for them, but there's not much i can do about it.. i've been feeling lonely today, i do miss my friends sometimes, and i have really good friends, but since i don't go to meetings i never see them much anymore.

Hi,
Great to hear you could make the break. I am pretty new to this and find talking here to be such a relief. Leaving the Org seems to me to be a bit like a divorce. For six months it is hell, too hard to deal with, no light at the end of the tunnel. But then it is such a huge relief. You will look back and wonder why you did not do it sooner. -

Mom politely declines to answer my DC Q's
by chrissy inmy mother, a witness, is at her dc in cleveland this very moment as i type.
i spoke with her on the phone a few days ago as she was preparing to travel and so by coincidence the topic came up in conversation.
now, she doesnt know exactly why i stopped serving the tower, as we live along a dont ask, dont tell policy, and other than the fact that each and every time we talk there is a gigantic elephant on party-line with us, that otherwise works just swell.

You are lucky she speaks with you. It would be nice for you if she wanted to know why you do not believe any longer, but of little benefit. If you can keep a relationship with JW things being no part of it that will make your relationship far less volatile.

How Would You Prove That JWs Are Frauds?
by minimus injws are supposed to interested in performing a "lifesaving work" but the truth is they are more interested in finding not-at-homes than actual people.
and if they do find people, chances are that getting this most important message out to them will not occur because, unless they're invalids, they'll be out when you drop by.
if you don't see a return visit----face to face----for many months, that's not unusual.

you can not prove something to a person that does not want to have it proved. A sad fact i am finding with my otherwise intelligent family.
I wrote to my mother the other day that i will no longer hassle her about the JWs until she is interested in 'truth' and not 'the Truth'.
You point about door to empty door is valid. Jesus and the disciples spent very little time going door to door. They went straight to the market places etc where people were. Today in developed countries even less people are home. I can't imagine Jesus driving around on RV's all afternoon when we all know no one will be home. -

Do you secretly wish for a demon attack - serious question
by stillajwexelder in.
i am not trying to compete with fmz as he has a supernatural thread going already but - do you secretlyt wish for a demon attack - serious question - the reason i ask this is because - if i had a demon attack it would mean there was a satan the devil and if there was a satan it would mean there was god.
what i am trying to say in a nutshell is "a demon attack would actually strengthen my faith" where at the moment it is non-existent almost
-
jwfacts
I have often thought it would be a great way to strengthen my faith. But how do you know a demon attack is a demon attack? Would it be a demon, or a dead soul, or just a psychotic figment of your imagination.
I once woke pinned to my bed, couldnt move for what seemed like several minutes so assumed it was a demon. Try to say Jehovah but couldnt utter a word. But in speaking to others found out that the mind can wake before the body, the experience i was probably going through.
What is levitation? A demon? Or is it a power we all possess but still do not understand? People believe what they want and explain away what they want. The bible (if it is true) says that Jesus raised the dead, yet almost no one believed him to be Gods son. Why not? Because it didnt happen, or people justified it away, they didnt want to believe it?
I believe in a creator, an intelligence behind design. But no one knows or can prove what that is, who or how. Demon attack or no demon attacks. -

Thanks, I am interested in information on Pagan Trinities. Not being raised to believe in a Trinity understanding the concept is all quite new to me.
I do not promote either view of God as correct. Rather I see that the bible creates the confusion, as you mentioned and so I don't think it possible to ever know the answer or the truth. A Witness is raised to believe in an absolute truth, but I no longer think it possible to find it in this life time, or necessary. Growing and learning is what I think is important. What is most true to me at the moment is that any religion that condemns to destruction anyone that does not follow their way is based on manipulation and not truth.
You say that the truth is out there, do you feel you have you found it? There are millions of concepts of what this truth is. Does this mean truth is different for each individual? -

Did You Usually Feel Guilty While A JW?
by minimus inmy 79 year old mom that has every ailment known to man was going to the bookstudy this afternoon because she felt "guilty" for not going the last couple of meetings due to illness.
i told her it was 95 degrees outside and asked her not to go since she has difficulty breathing.
she decided to do it anyway.

I felt guilt 24/7. I was a pioneer, bethelite, virgin at 25, yet felt bad for everything. Wasnt exerting myself enough to get through the narrow door.
I have gone too far the other way now. I find it hard to feel any guilt. I dont think almost anything is wrong. Apart from violence, if it doesnt badly affect someone else i think its fine. I have an attitude that since we'll all be dead soon, what difference does it make. Hopefully i can get some balance over time. -

I wrote something similar a while ago. What you say is very true, and if anything glosses over the gory details. Such as the flood. It is estimated a billion people were alive at the time of the flood, and yet Noah only built one ark for all the animals and people he expected to save. Obviously God had no intention of saving more than a few people.
I have come to the conclusion that Witnesses do not participate in war only because of the irrelevance of their numbers. Early Christians did not participate in war until they were large enough in numbers to be effective at war. If there were hundreds of millions of JWs and whole countries were made up of JWs the story would be different. If Poland had been 90% JWs when Hitler invaded I can not imagine them sitting there twiddling their thumbs. They would have taken up arms to defend their families and faith. Scriptures such as Romans 13:1-4 and Ecc would be used as support. -

Etude,
Pagans did not originate the Trinity. In fact Pagans generally do not have a Trinity. They may group Gods in threes, but not in the same way that is done by the Christian concept of 3 persons but only one God. Even if some do have a trinitarian concept similar to Christians does not make it wrong or right. Pagans and Christians share many concepts. The law of love is in virtually all religions. Karma equates to bible principles such as 'throw your bread on the water and it will come back'. Going to paradise, heaven etc etc. If God is a Trinity then pagans are copying God, Satan knows the true nature of God, and could imitate him into other religions.
My point is, many of those types of arguments against the trinity are irrelavant. It doesnt matter what the Jews believed. It doesn't matter what the history of the teaching is. For a person that believes the bible the question should be 'what does the bible say' about the nature of God. To me it keeps coming back to the same conclusion - We must have only one God, yet Jesus is plainly called God, clearly is worshipped and was prayed to. If Jesus is not Jehovah than Christians were breaking the most important law of the Jews, to have no other God than Jehovah. -

Thank you for all your answers. I love this site, I can not believe the intelligence that comes through it. 'Apostates' are labelled as cynical and bitter people that just want to tear down, a reason I took so long to search elsewhere. It is great to see how many people said they became 'happy'.
What i enjoy most is that i can read a variety of answers to a question and believe they are all correct, just different answers for different people. In the past i struggled with having a mind full of ideas that i had to supress because it was not in line with Witness doctrine. Now I just enjoy learning, without the guilt.
