Thank you for the reply scholar, poetic and contentious as always. I still wonder if you are just taking the piss (i'm not sure if that is an Aussie term) or maybe are the mole planted here to strenghten peoples anti JW convictions with reverse psychology. Anyway it is great that you stir up debate, it would be oh so boring if everyone agreed on everything.

Hi Scholar,
I asked you a couple of questions but received no reply. I actually was asking out of sincerity as i would like to know the answer. I find it difficult to understand the rest of my witness family and your behaviour may hold the key.
That is why i wonder if you are just playing around or really believe what you say.
As a WTS scholar you are aware that you must not speak with apostates. The w81 9/15 25-26 states that speaking to disfellowshipped people can be grounds to be disfellowshipped. It is considered to be loose conduct. In other words, WTS doctrine is that you will probably be destroyed at Armageddon for your conduct on this website.
How do you reconcile that in your own mind? How do you withstand all the comments thrown at you and retain your faith the F&D Slave, and yet not respect the direction of the F&D slave in other areas? To me it always had to be all or nothing.
Thanks

Have you ever got up in the middle of a meeting, bored, and just left?
by JH ini did it many times.
first of all, let me say that just about every meeting i attended was a sacrifice for me.
i was a follower, not more.

I found the meetings so disturbing by the end that on Sunday i would arrive very late, go for a coffee during the middle song, wander around the shops and then come back for the last song. That way i could hang out at the end with friends, and also make mini statement about how i felt without actually saying anything that would get me in trouble.

Six Billion Hearts Will Soon Stop Beating. . .
by ACEofCAD inannounced our circuit overseer last night in his talk about the urgency to preach because of the times.
followed by a silence that was broken with ohhhs and ahhhs.

I remember a CO saying that it was stupid to marry out of the truth as they will die at Armageddon. He then said that it was like dragging around a log of wood, no good for anything.
In the audience was a Witness woman and her unbelieving, ex army husband. He was so angry that at the end of the meeting some elders had to intervene so as to prevent the CO being beaten up. -

Children don't like to be bible bashed, so i cant say much to her without annoying her. But it is interesting what pricks up my daughters ears. She saw me doing research on Pastor Russell and asked who he was. Is said the person that started the Witnesses. She said 'but i was told there were always Witnesses'. So i briefly explained that Russell was another religion that he didn't like so he started a new one, which shocked her. So i added that just because she hears something from a Watchtower doesnt mean it is true, and it is worth finding out what other people like her school friends also believe. I saw a very fast change in her attitude toward meetings after that.
I was raised to have a totally unquestioning attitude to the Watchtower, and didnt think once that it may lie, or misquote, or be biased until i was almost 30. If you can let your daughter realise that it is acceptable to research and question at 13 it will make a huge difference to how easily she can avoid the indoctrination. -

I think it is very sad to see teenagers baptised. Even when i was going to meetings i was telling my kids that there is no rush to get baptised. I have an 18 year old step son and am glad to say he has not been baptised. He is just starting to realise it is not truth, and can move on without repercussions. It is such a huge decision, in the most out of control time of life, to say you will devote yourself for life to an organisation. Whenever someone talks about baptism i just ask "What age did Jesus get baptised?"

by buffalosrfree inmet w/2 elders today, we had a nice visit, and talked about a few things, like why i dont go to meetings, etc etc.
told them of the lack of love in congregation, the society constantly using loaded language to put guilt trips on the r&f,.
the sept article on actually enjoying yourself vice beating in doors and telling people something they dont want to or could care less about hearing.

She obviously knows i dont go to any meetings, and has overheard conversations i have had about the org to my parents, but what got to her is how people are treated within the organisation. Her bible study conductor started to find out the truth about the history of the Witnesses and some of the doctrines, and was disfellowshipped within one month of starting to have doubts. My daughter was really upset at how this sister was treated.
On top of that she is seeing the hypocrisy of a lot of the young witnesses her age, acting really good at the meetings, and being totally different at school.
Without having to interfere in her decision i am feeling confident that she will never be a JW. Young people can be so observant. -

The point you make is a good one. The WTS is confused as to how these verses apply to. The terms "i am coming" and "first and last" both are applied in the bible sometimes to Jehovah and sometimes to Jesus. The WTS states that this does not indicate a trinity. However they never want to admit that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega. Virtually all other religions understand the context to imply that Jesus is the one referred to as coming and it is also Jesus that is referred to as the Alpha Omega. This is the logical reading of the text.
The WTS seems to have moved back and forth as to whether in Rev 22 'i am coming' refers to Jesus or Jehovah.
The quote from 1978 I have taked off the WTS CD. *** w78 10/1 p. 15 “Keep on the Watch” *** 6 Also, in his final revelation concerning “the things that must shortly take place,” Jesus again stresses the suddenness with which he comes: “I am coming to you quickly . . . I am coming quickly. Keep on holding fast what you have.”—Rev. 2:16; 3:11. “Look! I am coming quickly. . . . Look! I am coming quickly, and the reward I give is with me. . . . Yes; I am coming quickly.” (Rev. 22:7, 12, 20)
*** g78 8/22 p. 28 Who Is “the Alpha and the Omega”? *** Since the context does not necessitate our attributing the words of Revelation 22:12, 13 either to the angel or to Jesus, they could have originated with another speaker. Consistent with the rest of the book of Revelation, “the Alpha and the Omega” must be the Almighty God. He is the One who comes in the capacity of a judge to reward and to punish individuals according to their works.
The following shows how confusing the Witness understanding of Revelation 22 becomes;
*** it-1 p. 81 Alpha and Omega *** The final occurrence of the title is at Revelation 22:13, which states: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” It is evident that a number of persons are represented as speaking in this chapter of Revelation; verses 8 and 9 show that the angel spoke to John, verse 16 obviously applies to Jesus, the first part of verse 17 is credited to “the spirit and the bride,” and the one speaking in the latter part of verse 20 is manifestly John himself. “The Alpha and the Omega” of verses 12-15, therefore, may properly be identified as the same one who bears the title in the other two occurrences: Jehovah God. The expression, “Look! I am coming quickly,” in verse 12, does not require that these aforementioned verses apply to Jesus, inasmuch as God also speaks of himself as “coming” to execute judgment. (Compare Isa 26:21.) Malachi 3:1-6 speaks of a joint coming for judgment on the part of Jehovah and his “messenger of the covenant.”
