All may be a gross generalisation, though the contradiction that exists between religion show they do not explain truth in any absolute sense.
Anyway littletoe, as you appear to be a philosopher I am interested to you providing an answer of sorts, rather than more questions.

Since it is obvious all religion is wrong why do so many believe?
by jwfacts inany religion that claims it is the only correct one is obviously wrong.
by it's arrogance it becomes mutually exclusive of any other religion.
when one steps back they can see that the contradiction of one religion over the others is a proof that they all must be wrong.

The most exotic thing was turtle and sea slugs.
I am really dissappointed because once i was offered Dugong (a protected animal only allowed to be killed by islanders) but didnt eat it as a JW because they are not bled but suffocated. Apparantly they are like pig, but have three layers of fat. -

AA - I wasn't allowed to call it "incredible good luck"
Great phrase. I was always troubled with why i was so lucky to be born a Witness. I wasnt any better or more special than anyone else, so why should I be saved and they wouldn't. JW's say that God draws his sheep, but that rang hollow to me. I knew that most people will never have the opportunity to be a JW, and i would never have believe it if i wasnt born it.
Oh wow, my 100th post, I'm no longer a newbie. -

You are right, i had to cut back on the length of the title and so it loses its meaning, plus i made it a bit sensational.
Some religions are not judgemental. But many people I speak to say that only their religion will be saved. Or only Muslims/Christians/whatever will be saved. Any such religion makes the minority special and the majority evil. This seems far from realistic or fair. So my question is, "why are people so attracted to religions that judge as evil all but themselves"? -

When one steps back they can see that the contradiction of one religion over the others is a proof that they all must be wrong. Why is it so hard for people to believe this? How can so many people in so many religions believe that only they are right, only they are worthy of the love of God?

WHY THE MEMORIAL?
by hamsterbait inaccording to christs words at the last supper, his followers were to "keep doing this in remembrance of me" but st paul says that by taking the emblems we are declaring the death of our lord "until he arrives".. the greatest man book (i've been looking at it) says the "arrival of the son of man, jesus christ, with the angels must be invisible to human eyes.
the arrival occurs in the year 1914.
if the gb really believe this why are they still doing the memorial road show?.

Heathen,
What you believe is what Russell taught, because it is pretty clear from the scripture that the GC would be in heaven. It was Rutherford that put the GC on earth, along with the doctrine of narrow salvation. -

Can you point me to where the statistic came from. I can believe it is true due to the lack of emphasis on education and careers, but would like to see the source.

Garrybuss - "My worst time was my 18 years as an inactive believing walkaway. Now is the best time."
I spent 10 years as a not realy believing witness, a frustrating time too. Sites like this snapped me out of it, gave me perspective, I see great benefit being able to understand what others believe and gain some perspective. -

I was damaged. In my 20's people close to kept saying i must have been sexually abused. I wasnt, and now realise that the controlling abuse of organisation had the same emotional affect on my boundaries. The last few years i have been pretty emotionally unstable.
6 months ago i made the emotional break from the org and now feel quite together. I think that growing up a JW destroyed some of my potential, but trained me in other areas. Over time I see that my life will be what it was meant to be and the past will just be part of the journey. -
