An old JW woman just called me for my sisters phone number. In the usual chit chat she asked how the meeting were etc. I said i dont go and that i dont believe it anymore.
She then gave me an earful in her loving 80 yo voice how I must realise these are the last days and that only JWs make know the name of the Father. She proceeded to tell me that I must be breaking my parents heart, feel i am too smart for my own good and that Satan has control of my mind. She then ended up saying she will love me anyway.
I feel absolutely crushed evertime I have anything to do with Witnesses.

Teaching Prior to 1935 about heaven
by golden age init is all over the net that in 1935 rutherford got a flash of light stating that his followers would start to have an earthly hope.
the great multitude that is.
and that prior to that there were some classes of earthly salvation but it did not appear to be his followers that would be involved in that.

Good Question.
For several years prior to 1935 the teaching evolved and changed over time, so it was all abit confusing. Know one knows the real reason Rutherford progressed the religion as he did, so what you read on the net is all hypothsis.
Logically the teaching could have stayed that JW's were the 144000, and the remaining second-rate JW's could have been the Great Crowd in heaven. Then the worldly people would have survived Armageddon onto earth.
My personal opinion is Rutherford was interested in growing his organisation, and the best way to do that was to say that being a JW is compulsory for salvation. In that case both classes 144,000/Great Crowd, Little Flock/Other Sheep, Heavenly/Earthly both had to be only JWs. He changed the teaching to say heaven is full, and the earth will only be JW's, so get on board so you dont die.
This is not what he was saying in 1925. Millions now living was still at a time of understanding that all JW's go to heaven and the worldly get to stay on earth. -

IS SHUNNING BIBLE-BASED????
by hubert inmy wife and i watch a movie last night, called "the truth".
it was about an amish girl who got pregnant and had a child.
anyway, she was ordered to be shunned by all members for her wrong doing, for six weeks.. this brings up the questions..... is shunning bible-based?.

The bible definitely does not say how long a person should be disfellowshipped for. It states only that a person should not associate with a 'practicer' of certain sins. There is no minimum time period mentioned. So there is no basis for not talking to the person until the elders 'feel' the person is repentant. This is truly a form of punishment, not readjustment.
The other thing to note is that the only scripture that says not to even greet a man (2 John 7-11) is only applying to the AntiChrist. No other scriptures say there should be extreme shunning.
In Cor it says not to eat with such a man as a fornicator, so excludes socialisation, but does not preclude greeting a sinner at the kingdom hall. -

2 Corinthians 2:5-11
5 Now if anyone has caused sadness, he has saddened, not me, but all of YOU to an extent—not to be too harsh in what I say. 6 This rebuke given by the majority is sufficient for such a man, 7 so that, on the contrary now, YOU should kindly forgive and comfort [him], that somehow such a man may not be swallowed up by his being overly sad. 8 Therefore I exhort YOU to confirm YOUR love for him. 9 For to this end also I write to ascertain the proof of YOU, whether YOU are obedient in all things. 10 Anything YOU kindly forgive anyone, I do too. In fact, as for me, whatever I have kindly forgiven, if I have kindly forgiven anything, it has been for YOUR sakes in Christ’s sight; 11 that we may not be overreached by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his designs.” -

Just to throw some fuel on the fire...
It can work, i have a number of friends that married non-JW's and been happily married for years. It pissed the elders off no end, who repeatedly gave talks that even though the mixed marriages may look happy, the JW was dissobedient to God and so will reap what they sow.
You have to realise LostSouls that your chances are low, and even if you could catch her heart it will be difficult for both of you.
If you could reason with her on the religion and put doubts in her mind it would be good if she could break free from the cult before starting a relationship.
On the other hand, there is truth in the saying that there are many fish in the sea. You will meet other girls that may be even more suitable for you, and without all the unneccesary religious baggage. -

JW Ladies: starved for love?
by 144001 inok, in another thread, a poster referred to incidents of "sisters" out in "field service" attempting to "hit" on the males they encountered at the doors.
i have personally had this experience, and also noticed that the last time i visited a kingdom hall, the females in the hall were very, very flirty (including those who were married).
it was as if i had entered a place inhabited soley by women who had been denied male companionship for years!

I took a young male bible study to the hall once. He was totally amazed at how many horny sisters there were, he though it was paradise. I had to assure him they were not after anything, maybe I was wrong.

I don't know who God is anymore, or if there is an afterlife. I don't have as many friends as I used to, though I am starting to build new ones. Yet life seems to finally make sense, is happy, full and has meaning. I am at peace with myself and no longer fear the future. Is this normal?
And no, I am not abusing any substances to make me feel so good. -

Not all men are created equal. Many want to settle down and do so faithfully for life. Other dont want to settle down, but when they get older it becomes to hard to 'pull a chick' and so they settle down because it is easier.
And others grow into monogamy after polygamy becomes monotony. -

My Father really wanted a second hand Jaguar when i was young but did not want to upset the brothers so he bought a family sedan Ford instead. Totally senseless as the Ford cost the same as the Jag he wanted anyway.
