The kingdom hall I grew up in in Hobart was bought off the Salvation Army. After the quickbuild they sold to a bridge club. I was about 16 and wondered what Jehovah thought of all these old men gambling in his old house.

What does section 116 state?
I was thinking the WTS letter was going to draw on Ecclesiatical privelege but they didn't, at least not yet.
They are incorporated in NSW, so I will check out the NSW privacy laws.

Here is my normal plug for my site. http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/1914.htm
It is not as in depth as many of the other things referenced, but hopefully a bit easier to understand.
Certainly like already stated, why think that the prophecy even has a second fulfillment, most of the other Daniel prophecies only had one fulfillment.

I too wouldn't bother speaking to the elders. However, if they come after you, you can tell them what you wrote before, you are separated and have grounds for divorce. If they want to know why you dont go to meetings at least you have a good excuse. Too much stress etc from the separation, cant cope seeing all your old friends. They will want to encourage you to go to meetings, but at least you can get out of talking about what you really think for a while at least, until you are more sure about where you stand.

I have lodged a formal complaint with the Australian Government Office of the Privacy Commissioner. I rang them today and they could not see why the Watchtower would refuse my request, did not think it would be legal so wanted to look into it for me. I look forward to updating everyone on how it goes.

Last week i sent a letter to the the Australian Bethel requesting my congregation records as follows:
Please supply me with all information held by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, Inc. and all related organisations in regards to me, as per my rights under the Privacy Act 1988. This includes, but is not limited to information held by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of Australia, Inc., and the xxx Congregation of Jehovah’s witnesses.
There response was;
Please be advised that we are not prepared to release any confidential information held by the Society or other bodies mentioned in your letter. We also advise that none of the bodies you mention in you letter are organiations under section 6C the Privacy Act 1988 and therefore do not come within the Act.
As far as I can tell the Act does apply to the Society, however 6C states that the corporation must have over $3 million turnover. As the congregation does not have over $3 million they may not be bound, possibly a reason the congregations have recently set up as individual bodies.
However, I did work at bethel and that must have over $3million. My assumption from the Societies response is that the corporation I listed is not the one that employed me as a bethlite.
Does anyone know the name of the corporation that I would have been employed with when at bethel, as they have information on me that i think I legally can access? -

Confession is a great control mechanism, are you sure you want to be in a manipulative situation with a high control organisation rather then build a relationship with Jesus? As a JW, Jesus is not your mediator, are you sure you want to hand that role over to a bunch of old men?
If you want to devote your life to manipulation then of course you must confess, they are the rules. Of course you should feel guilty and tell 3 elders in a judicial comittee every intimate detail of your sexual behaviour, that is the rules the WTS has created for you. I can't recall that ever being called for in the bible, but that is not the point, the point is you are about to devote yourself to man run organisation, and it would be dishonest to say you have devoted your life to them and not follow the rules. -

JW's and the Cross
by Honesty inwhy is it so offensive to a jw when a person mentions the cross?
-

Who worships the cross? The WTS likes to make that claim, but how many people do you know that worship it? Have you ever asked anyone?
If you look at the article on my site you will see that historically the cross came into being to prevent people from idolatry, the early Christians feared images of Jesus would be worshipped, that is why know one knows what he looked like. Most people use the cross as a reminder of Jesus, and do not worship the cross itself.
It is just another example of the WTS using shallow unsupported reasoning and having a mass of followers accept it without question. Just like using Vines as the final authority on the word Stauros not being a Cross in Jesus day. There is ample evidence that Crosses were being used in Jesus day for impaling people, and so Stauros can be interpretted as cross. -

The TRUTH will set you free.
by vomit injust trying to grab your attention.
something is driving me crazy, i just cant stop saying "the truth".
why do these two words have so much power over us.

Your mental condition will pass over time.
I made a point of not saying "the truth" for a few years as a fader in conversation, instead saying "the witnesses say" and a few people picked it up and were offended by it. But the T word slipped out from time to time, much to my horror.
