Do you feel vindicated by the exposure of the WT Society in Australia? It seems like a feeding frenzy on here! I love it. You?
by Wasanelder Once inare you pleased with the exposure of the society in australia?
do you feel personally vindicated by it?
do you think it gives you credibility with others now that all the things you said were going on, actually are documented?

Watershed moment???
by sparrowdown inwill this rc turn out to be the beginnings of a watershed time in wbts history?.
do you have any thoughts regarding this?.

jwfacts
It will be like the UN situation. Only some JWs will ever hear of it. Of those, most will dismiss it as lies, imperfection, the light gets brighter. And some will wake up. No watershed moment, but a step in the right direction for some. -

i'm sure this guy will be able to tell the rc how things work behind the scenes without all the evasiveness, being that he is an "apostate".

One point in the Watchtower favour that JWs no doubt will promote was that they released an Awake article that was informative about child abuse. It was very vague, as it was admitted that other religions had information prior to that regarding internal procedures, but the Awake was early for public information.
The comment was made that it is not really relevant, as the Awake information did not change the fact that Watchtower procedure is badly flawed, but I see JWs jumping on this as a strawman argument.

Earthquakes in one place after another
by jws ini wonder what all of the fracking is doing to jws.
it's been shown that fracking causes earthquakes.
though the gas companies try to minimize this fact or say the earthquakes aren't significant, they are still happening.
-
jwfacts
There are over 100,000 earthquakes a year that humans can detect, 500,000 that instruments detect. Fracking may be increasing that number, but it is not affecting JWs. A major earthquake that takes lives is what they concentrate on, and Fracking does not seem to cause an earthquake of that magnitude. -

June 2015 Watchtower equating Apostates with The Antichrist!
by nicolaou inshit!
it finally happened.. years ago i speculated on this happening but can't find the posts.
anyway, this is a tactically aggressive move by wt.

The article spreads the net very wide. They still label most Christian religions as part of the Antichrist for teaching the trinity, but do also include the word apostates, as noted by OP. -

607 B.C. controversy
by FusionTheism ini'm not sure the whole 607 b.c.e.
controversy is really that major of a deal.. even if the society admits it and changes it, that's only a difference of 20-21 years, so the governing body could just shift 1914 to 1934-1935 and say that world war ii and hitler was the beginning of the signs.. a much bigger issue is why they even say daniel's tree prophecy has an antitypical fulfillment, especially after their new light on types and antitypes..

Good point. The other Daniel accounts do not have an antitypical fulfillment, so the onus of proof starts with showing that this particular one does. With their latest discussion about types and antitypes, I wonder how this will all pan out.

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't
by FusionTheism ini see an attitude among some people here which is not very helpful.
i can understand it, but still, it's not constructive or helpful.. if you condemn the society for not changing, but then you also condemn them when they do change in a positive way, what incentive or motive does that provide for the people at the society to ever want to change for the better?.
also, what does that attitude look like to current witnesses who are having doubts?.

jwfacts, Do you apply the same reasoning and logic to the government or to your friends or relatives?
Yes I do apply that same reasoning. My friends are those that I enjoy being with. I don't try to change toxic people, I just do not allow them in my life.
With government, I do what I can to have my say in the voting and judicial process. Australia has one of the world's best political systems, so unlike Watchtower, it can be tweaked for the better, rather than needs to be abandoned. My Grandfather was living in the 1950's in a Communist European country. He was so against it, that he left with nothing but his family, and resettled in Australia. So yes, what I said holds true for corrupt governments as well.
How is that any different from the way the Society has viewed apostates in the past, a viewpoint which most on here usually condemn?
That is a poor comparison. Watchtower unfairly attacks apostates as corrupt individuals. My comments do not attack individuals within the religion. I am attacking a corrupt belief system. That is a big difference.
I struggle to understand what you are trying to achieve and your motives. You have a range of threads suggesting how to fix Watchtower doctrine and practices. You are basically suggesting a new religion. Do you have aspirations to be a religious leader yourself? What you are doing is how new religions start. That is why there are over 35,000 religions. Individuals such as yourself take minor offence with the religion they belong to, slightly adjust the beliefs to their own liking, and before you know they are an apostate, and out creating a totally new belief system.

There is nothing Watchtower can change to justify the countless lives it has destroyed over the last 100 years. Even a positive change will not be able to redeem the religion and make it an organisation worthy of anyone belonging to. For instance, whilst it would be ideal if they removed the practice of shunning, they still:
- teach harmful unrealistic doomsday doctrine
- rob followers of their time and money
- lead to death refusing blood transfusions
- are against higher education and encourage ignorance through restricted research
If they changed all the bad, they would not be the same religion. There is no point congratulating small changes as a step in the right direction, as this is the sort of distraction used to justify the wrong and pretend things are improving when in reality they are not.
The concentration needs to be that it is a harmful religion that is beyond repair, and its followers are victims that need assistance to leave.
