The letter to elders has been explained to be lacking, because although it says not to prevent the abused going to the authorities, it does not explain when an elder should go to the authorities. -

McClellan made a very important point that since the elders have established the facts of a crime, and determined it to be true, it ceases to be an accusation and there becomes an obligation to report the crime to the state.
The process of JWs to establish the crime is different than most religions, and increases their obligations.
I would like to use that quote word for word from the transcript, as it is an important distinction.

Wasn't GB Jackson part of the Australian branch and did he have anything to do with this cover up besides being on the GB.
No, he was a special pioneer in Tuvalu, and then in the Fiji branch.

"Would the process have benefited if one of you had been a woman?"
Fantastic question.

Monty is very supportive of JW doctrine in many areas, such as his comment that the Watchtower not permitting women elders is a bible principle that in no way diminishes their value. Interesting that he never fully moved on, even though he claims to have tried to block everything about it from his memory.

Do you feel vindicated by the exposure of the WT Society in Australia? It seems like a feeding frenzy on here! I love it. You?
by Wasanelder Once inare you pleased with the exposure of the society in australia?
do you feel personally vindicated by it?
do you think it gives you credibility with others now that all the things you said were going on, actually are documented?

Nitty-Gritty But their rules are not man made (that's if you believe the Bible is not from man of course).
That is a naive comment. Every religion says it is following the Bible, yet they all arrive at different standards, depending on how they interpret each passage. The two witness rule is a perfect example of ignorant men arrive at an illogical and harmful stance, despite saying it is a Bible and hence God's requirement. (Likewise with blood transfusions, disfellowshipping, higher education, etc.)
Being spirit directed is one thing, but actually following the direction of the spirit is another.
That is an evasive cop-out. JWs are expected to follow the rules as if from God. No mention is ever made that the Governing Body may not be following the direction of the spirit in making those rules.

The RC must be shocked at how easy it has been to tie each of the elders in knots. It would be amusing if it was not for the gravity of the subject.

Marvin Shilmer - coregation is good Aussie pronounciation.
Village Idiot - One other child would be sufficient for the two witness rule and they would likely find another since pedophiles are serial offenders.
Back then they needed two witnesses to the same act.

I cannot believe how ignorant the elders are on their own teachings. The elder Rooy was stumped when questioned about why JWs don't stone adulterers since this is in Deuteronomy, along with the 2 witness rule. Rooy did not seem to understand what the point was. The correct Watchtower answer is that whilst the Mosaic law was done away by the Ransom sacrifice, at Matthew 18 Jesus reiterated the two witness rule.
