Musky, I don't think there's anything wrong with homeschool, I had to do that with my sister when she got sick and it was a lot of work, my problem stems with why the child is being homeschooled. In this case it's simply to keep the child from spending time with those who do not share his/her religion, not because the parent thinks he/she can do a better job at teaching the child, I've seen how some of these parents "teach" their kids and I've heard some of these kids try to "read" and it is bad, in my opinion some of these parents are doing their kids a great disservice.

*Major rant* my Sunday at the Hall aka HELL, also need ladies opinion on creepy elder
by lola28 inok guys i thought i would update you on my sunday and how the study went.
i had to drive a few of the older sisters to the hall (one has a bum leg the other an injured hip and the other one has a hard time seeing), so i drove them to the hall and stayed for the meeting, here are some of my thoughts, first of the public talk.. i dont know how i made it thru the 30 minute talk without screaming bulls*it every other five seconds, the talk was about being no part of the world, and man it made me want to vomit.
first off, children are still discouraged from extra curricular activities, i dont know how they expect children to grow up and be able to function socially if they raise them to isolate themselves from their peers, dont they realize that they are raising social retards?

Elsewhere, you might have a point. His wife killed herself a few years ago, she and I share the same first name, but even before that something just felt very wrong, also I'm not sure if you got my PM a few days ago? I'm not sure if the pm system is working here yet.

Ok guys I thought I would update you on my Sunday and how the study went. I had to drive a few of the older sisters to the hall (one has a bum leg the other an injured hip and the other one has a hard time seeing), so I drove them to the hall and stayed for the meeting, here are some of my thoughts, first of the public talk.
I don’t know how I made it thru the 30 minute talk without screaming “Bulls*it” every other five seconds, the talk was about being “no part of the world”, and man it made me want to vomit. First off, children are still discouraged from extra curricular activities, I don’t know how they expect children to grow up and be able to function socially if they raise them to isolate themselves from their peers, don’t they realize that they are raising social retards? How will these kids function if they are homeschooled and never socialize with people who have different opinions? It makes me so sad to see what is being done to these kids, they are woefully unprepared for life in the real world.
Second, women did you realize that you are not to have an opinion and that dressing up in good clothes shows you are seeking prominence? Oh yes they went there, apparently if you have a vagina you should learn how to keep your thoughts to yourself because to express your opinion means that you are trying to upstage your husband. I was speechless.
Third, is it just me or is a guy who has never been married let alone dated the wrong person to give opinions about having sex and what a healthy relationship is?
And here is something that really bothered me; maybe the ladies on the board can tell me if I’m over reacting, there is an elder in this hall whom I’ve known from age 14, he’s always made me uncomfortable for reasons I cant really explain, he’s not mean but sometimes I had a feeling that he was showing me too much attention or maybe saying things that had double meanings, is any of this making sense? Any ways I’m sitting behind him and after the meeting when the last prayer is over he turns around and takes my hand *shudders* then he leans in way close and says “have you missed me? Have you thought about me every day?” and he still would not let go of my hand, am I wrong to think that this was completely inappropriate and creepy? I finally managed to excuse myself when someone walked by with a new baby, but let me tell you that was a very uncomfortable moment.

Why even give her a second chance, surely you’re not that desperate for a date are you? Honestly Elsewhere why would you waste another second on someone who thinks so little of you and your time that she didn’t even bother to show up? Does she think that she is so important or so wonderful that she can stand someone up and they’ll wait for her and forgive her rude behavior? I think she’s establishing a pattern here, don’t you?

So I've agreed to a Bible Study, how will I get thru it without wanting to die?
by lola28 inno joke.
the sister who studied with me is older and she's been having a very hard time getting around out in service, i heard she was ill so i called her and this morning she came by my office and we started to talk, her kids have all moved away and she's lonely, going out in service is hard for her but she tries her best to get out there, she asked me if i would consider a study with her and i said yes.
i miss her terribly, she's the closest thing i've had to a grandmother and i adore her, also i'd rather she be with me indoors instead of walking around house to house when her legs give her so much trouble.

Ok, the Bible study is to be for only 30 minutes a week and I guess we’ll be using the new book, what’s it called, something along the lines of “what does the Bible really teach”, I think that’s it. Steve, had or should the elders ask for someone else to study with me I would have declined the offer, I’m also going to ask that no one sit in on the “study”.
My only real worry is that as some of you mentioned they will want to see progress and I’m not willing to do anything beyond this study, also if they feel that my studying makes me part of the congregation it might leave room for them to DF me or reprove me if they feel that my conduct will hurt the image of the congregation.

Maarjori, I got baptized whn i was 18.
JD, I'm so sorry to hear that, I don't think I could stand knowing that I've hurt her, plus it's only 30 minutes a week, how bad can it be? I'm going to BS my way thru it just like I did highschool.

She's actually asked me to several social events and to just spend time with her but I've always stayed away mostly so i would not have to lie to her about anything but I have missed her, she helped shape me as a person and she's great company.
