What funny "Saying" do you sometimes use?
by JH inhere in quebec, one funny expression people say is "donne a manger a un cochon, et il viendra chier sur ton perron" .
word for word in english this would mean: feed a pig, and he will shit on your porch.
in other words, sometimes you try to be nice to people, and they don't always try to be nice to you in return.. .

I would, for some reason I have always been attracted to black men more so than any other group. Race has never been an issue my mother has always made it very clear that as long as the person is kind and decent the color of their skin is insignificant.

The last day...
by Quentin in.
if this were the last day of your life what would you do?...
i would spend the day at the zoo with my grand kids

If today was the last day of my life I would spend it with my sisters, I would make sure to tell them how much I love them and how happy I am to have had the chance to have known them. I would listen to some music and go outside and feel the sunshine. I would make sure my hamster had food and would want to hug my cat one last time.

Jehovah's Witnesses as "a people......"
by ScoobySnax inwho out of all you nasty old apostates (tm) will agree with me, that if you take the gb that you dislike so much, and the watchtower that you hate out of the picture, will agree with me that at the end of the day, and on the whole, jw's really are a good bunch of people.
i did my same old rekky last sunday at the gillingham convention, and will have a good look around next sunday at twickenham convention.
i've been in lots of crowds, at stadiums and arenas, but an assembly is something else, it is somehow unique, its somehow different from any other crowds, there is a deep sense of "togetherness" i've not see any where else.

I have met many witnesses and been helped by many as well. As a whole I think most of them are good people. But then there are those that are just nasty people and they would be the same way regardless of the religion they practised. There are witnesses that will drop what they are doing if you call them and tell them you need help. However I don't think they do this because of the fact that they are witnesses. I think it is just because they are good and kind individuals that happen to be JWs.
Not all witnesses are good and not all are bad, the majority I think are people that want things in the world to be better, I know I did. So I try not to judge witnesses because of the interaction I have had with some of its members, rather when I meet one I choose whether I like him or her based on the person they are not on the God they worship.

Personally I don't think I could ever do it. I don't think I could live with myself knowing that I ended the life of my own child. However just because I wouldn't do it does not mean that I condem any other woman who would. At the end of the day we all do what is best for us, and no one else has the right to pass judment on our actions.

Can a Witness celebrate Quinceaneras?
by TresHappy inthis is a big tradition for many in the hispanic culture.
but how can a witness have or pay for one of these?
marking a rite of passage.

No they could not, Quinceaneras are birthday celebrations the same as a sweet sixteen birthday party. Also the writer is correct most Quincianeras include a trip to a church (almost always Catholic) and then a reception afterwards. Lola

Did you ever want to just 'FOREST GUMP' it out of the Kingdom Hall?
by GetBusyLiving inthe last few weeks of meetings for me were pure hell.
i got a cold sweat sometimes and just sat there fantasizing about running forest gump style out of the kingdom hall.
i was getting "encouraged" to comment more too and i just physically could not audibly promote that crap in public anymore.

Yes, I went to meeting last night and during the school my heart began to beat really fast, I felt like i was going to be sick. I got up and went outside for a few minutes. We have to back rooms one for the back school and another for moms with small children. I spent the remainder of the meeting in that room with the lights off. Thank God on one bothered me.

by lola28 ini went to meeting last night (don't ask) and someone asked me to go out in service.
i was taken by surprise and actually agreed to do street work on saturday.
the sister that i'm supposed to work with has always been very kind to me and i know that there is no one else in our hall that will go out with her on saturday morning.

I live in Los Angeles and we have a ton of bus stops and laundry places that are full of people at five and six in the morning. I could normally place between twenty and thirty mags doing this from five until eight thirty. I don't believe I've ever met a prostitute in service but I was the only one in the car group that would talk to homeless people (hey the needed the truth too). Doing street work at five and six in the morning is not uncommon in my area I always thought that most congregations had people going out at those times. Is this abnormal in other parts of the country ?

Are you serious? We used to go out at five, but now six is the "the new five". Surely there are others here who got up at four to go out at five right?
