my middle kid turns 10 this wednesday.
it will be the first b-day present i've ever bought her.... (gawd, now i'm tearing up)
what i'm needing is a little help easing into actually giving it to her as she's known for the previous 9 years, 364 days that celebrating birthdays are bad, bad bad.
I hope that didn't come across too harsh. I understand that this is hard. I had friends just tell their kids that this was what they once believed but they were wrong. And that God still loved them. The kids are fine as far as I know. They also let the kids decided at their own pace if they wanted to celebrate holidays in school (color the pictures, sing the songs etc)

my daughter got this email yesterday from the lady she works with that is undergoing chemo and radiation for cancer.......i think we're gonna hafta "do lunch" in the next coupla weeks or something when she's up to it......
my daughter did some research and found a salon that takes hair donations in the name of the cancer patient that for whom you wish to donate your hair.
then they make up a wig for that person.
....I want to be left with at least a chin-length bob to deal with
Me too! I don't really like my hair that short but it grows super quick so I'll deal.

I would have been thrilled at 9/10 to be able to have a birthday!! I'm still thrilled at 30.

Is she that into the bible? It would almost seem like you were making a bigger deal out of it?
What about starting off by saying that you have such good memories of when she was born and you wanted to show her how you still feel about that day? You don't actually have to say the "b'word" Ease her into it this year and I'm sure by the next you can have a full blown party!
