  right so being single and being free to look and date the male species i'm sad to announce that there really is no much of a choice out there.

  is it wise to give bible student girlfriend of a year the ultimatum of reading crisis of consiencness or its over.. if she does read it will she just reject it as the devils handiwork?

  Sorry to hear about your troubles. Ultimatums tend to backfire on you If you are worried about leaving her "in the clutches" of the JW world, try offering her your ear whenever she begins to have doubts and questions. If you can leave the relationship on somewhat of a good note and leave the door open to future communication, it might come in handy later on down the road.

  why would women be attracted to join such a chauvinistic, patriarchal and mysogenist religious group?

  It was my experience in my old KH that single mothers tended to join. I've often thought it might have been out of loneliness. And then years later it often comes out that they were abused as children or in the marriage. Newcomers are often bombarded with love and attention and everyone wants to help out with their children.

  Emoticon use...

  have you noticed that some posters seem to use the emoticon buttons more than others?

  i have often wondered if those who use the buttons are normally very animated while talking, and use their arms and hands more than those who don't use the buttons.. if maybe they substituted the use of the emoticons for their inability to flail about with their arms, or make faces like they do in person.. i haven't met any of you in person yet so can't say.

  it is true, or just a bad theory?.

  Non U.S. graduate school recommendations

  i have a request of the forum for help in recommending some good universities for graduate school abroad.

  i will be applying for anthropology, journalism, science writing, and creative writing.

  www.ukings.ns.ca and www.dal.ca They have a programs set up between the schools.

  I've heard good things about both, plus Halifax is a great city and home to the coolest people.

  i hate pop ups on my computer.

  i can't stand getting salespeople calling from the same company 3 times in a day!

  i hate being behind asian or indian drivers........

  Bitter, Better or Both?

  It seems as if most people who responded aren't bitter.

  Some days I feel that my upbringing made me better. I don't feel that I would have the values and experiences that make me who I am today without my JW childhood. I mean sure it was really awful at times and yes I had many negative experiences but being free from the org and looking back at my life, it all really came together to make me the strong and emotionally aware and compassionate memeber of society that I am now.

  Not that I would want to have to re-live them now

  The Governing Body's hidden agenda

  the gb have a manifest agenda that they present to the world regarding their intentions and policies.

  however they also a have a hidden agenda which spells their real intentions and policies.

  to mention an example they say that the jw kids should not attend university because it is pointless in view of the end soon, the risks of fleshly temptations and loss of eternal life, the god blessed pioneering work is a better way to spend their time etc.

  Cut Jw's off from anything of any normalacy so that if they ever consider leaving or even listening to anything negative it will be pushed away immediately, due to fear of the unknown.
