Neo....thanks for the memories, I remember those table well! We probably passed each other at the '69 convention in NYC! That was the year I graduated and I went to the NYC to listen......as a graduation present my parents sent me to Hawaiia on one of the Society's arranged tours for the Convention on Oahu! Needless to say...18 years old in Hawaiia.....I made about 2 hours of that one and the other Pioneers I shared a suite with (we were able to have room mates to cut down on room costs and it seems they put two of us pioneers in one part of the suite and two others in the bedroom portion. We opened the adjoining door and had a ball!) didn't do much better. I think technically that's when I started to fade, it just took a while. Ah the good old days!

Scooby, thanks for the pix. Greece is in our plans for two weeks in the summer of 2007. Next summer (2006) we hope to do London and some surrounding areas. I've been making notes of all of the areas mentioned on the board as my daughter and I would like to also check out Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Scotland and eventually New Zealand and Australia.

The ex got it as part of the property settlement. We picked it up in '77 with 29,000 original miles. It was that odd Olive green they were pained with the black vinyl room and black detailing. I'd drive that thing down the road at 35 m.p.h. and be stopped all the time! Of course I also drove it a lot faster than that, but I was 26 with long blonde hair and had a hot car......it's amazing how many tickets I did not get!
You've got to learn to drive a stick shift kid.....it's easy... honest!

KLS, I had a 69 Charge with R/T package and 68 Corvette Convertible....both with stick (manual transmission). You can learn to drive your muscle car. Get a friend that can drive it to take you to the empty end of a large parking lot and go to it! My daughter has an '88 Mustang 5.0 with an automatic transmission...... and I just picked up an '89 Convertible with a stick that I'm going to insist she learns to drive stick as soon as it comes back from the Paint Shop.
Keep us posted on your progress!

My story - part One.
by diamondblue1974 ini have never posted my story on jwd and it was only recently that it occured to me that i should really make more of an effort to; here is the first part....sorry if its longwinded.... .
i was brought up in the borg from the age of 18 months old and as you can understand i have known little else.
previous to being in the truth my mother was an unwanted child and beaten by her mother, sure enough she fell into an abusive relationship with my father which left her with minus zero confidence and on the verge of a nervous breakdown; apparently my mum was considering throwing us both off a railway bridge she was that depressed and to her there was no point in living.

Allow myself to introduce....myself
by pele38 ini must say, i never thought that i would see the day when i would find a site about disillusioned (mostly) jehovah's witnesses, but low and behold...one truly exists.
first let me start off by saying thank you to the creators of this site, and i'll have you know that i've been lurking for several days now and i am just finding the time to finally log on.
i've been a member of the borg for over 20 years now, been baptised for about 14 of those years and now i find myself in the most unusual of places.

Welcome Pele, you will find here one of the most loving, caring and fun groups of people you could ever hope to meet. We have fun sharing ideas, giving advice, asking questions, helping each other cope and there's even a heated debate or two that is always fun. Keep posting all seem to be welcome!

POLL!!!!!! I need your opinion!!!!!
by JV inok, here's my question du jour, is it ok to let your kids practice their instrument outside so the whole god damn neighrbourhood can hear them???
?
-
Carol
JV, I thought they were your own little musicians. If they are the neightbor's kids you might try what our neighbor did....He works the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift as an R.N. at a Mental Health Facility in the area.....he sleeps from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.......when we had a similar problem he wrote a letter asking for consideration and sent it to each and every home on the block......then when the noise continued, he knocked on the parents door and talked to them. They agreed to have their children hold off practice......on one occassion, when the parents weren't home....he called the police. Even though we don't all socialize in the neighborhood, we do try to be considerate of each other and it is reassuring to have him home during the day, as more than once he's patched up one of our kids.

Talesin, you were probably one of the little ankle biters around Yankee Stadium that all of us Teenagers thought were so yucky!!Oh the panty hose......yeh we wore those, but when I first started going, we wore panty girdles with garters and stockings. Panty hose were a blessing after that! We also wore heels....I never wore anything less than 2 1/2 inch heels and usually 3 inch heels. I can remember the first DC we went to at Yankee Stadium, my brothers and I had our picture on the front of one of the New York papers, because my mother had brought clear plastic sheets (8X8) and put over the four of us like a tent when it rained....which it always did for at least two of the days we were there and we were so little at the time she couldn't keep us dry under umbrellas! I think she still has the newspaper!
Those were the days (NOT)!

I told my mother the same thing when I met the man I was married to for 32 years......."It's only dinner and besides he's really interested in the truth" he liked me because I was moral and didn't jump right into bed with him....the congregation put me through hell because I dated him (with one of my younger brothers as a chaperone) and eventually married him. Things were marginally okay until after we had our son and at that point I started to fade. There was always something missing in our marriage, I don't know if I blamed him deep down inside or not....I know I tried to be the "perfect" wife and I really think he couldn't handle it. We divorced in February after 32 years of marriage, 19+ of which we spent seperated!
I'd like to tell you that it would probably work out...but I have to agree with Undercover and OutoftheBox, run do not walk away from this relationship right now when it's in the Lust stage. Your heart will only be bruised and not broken.
