  recently i had the pleasure to examine a stash of 1920s and 1930s golden age magazines, among the rarest of watchtower publications.

  i thought it would be a fun idea to have a thread in which i share with you some of the amazing, ridiculous, hilarious things contained therein.

  hence, this is the first post of a series of excerpts, scans, etc.

  French government's good example: being tough on cults

  about a year ago a collection of sects that included the jws demanded from the supreme court in paris to outlaw unadfi an organisation for the protection of the family and individual against the activities of such cultic organisations.

  what a cheek they had.. the court rejected the demand and imposed on each of these sects to pay 10 000 euro to unadfi for damage caused to its reputation and 5 000 euro each for court costs.

  also to publish at their own cost the above decision in 8 newspapers to make it known that unadfi was innocent of the accusations brought against it.

  Picture on book "You can live forever"

  i remember that a few months ago, a member gave the reproduction of a publicity corresponding exactly to the picture of a nice swimming girl appearing in the "you can live forever ..." book.. this image is on my website (the first one on the page) :.

  Jacques, i have still told you on French's forum that your argument is too simple. At the time they had seen the subliminal image, have the three person that you are talking about, believed that the devil exist and he could influence us by picture. More simple, have they believed in the subliminal theory at this time, so they saw it only because they were searching for subliminal image in Watchtower's publication. It is not the number of believer who make true a theory. Bye Charles

  Wikipedia being abused by Jehovahs Witnesses

  i had a look at the wikipedia entry for jehovahs witnesses yesterday and noticed that it wasn't as comprehensive as it once was.. most links to non-pro-jw sites have gone as is anything truly critical or exposing of their beliefs and practices.. last night i added a link to this site to the "other sources" section.

  this morning it is gone.. i wonder whether this is some private zealot who has decided to do it or an organised campaign?.

  Thansk Forsher.

  To add something, regularly, on the french's Wikipedia some JW are complaining about the non-neutral view of the article, but as antiJW they could discuss with us to see if something is wrong. To insist again, it take times, but generally, the discussion stop quickly.

  For example, a JW thought that the Watchtower don't ask to her followers to avoid the Internet and discuting religion on it. We have provide some Watchtower and Kingdow Ministry's extracts and the discussion has ending.

  We have not the same problem on Wikipedia in french, but it is a work of every day, and there are not a lot of JW contributing on this page. I am surprised of some misconception here about wikipedia. There are plenty of procedure to complain about a vandalisation of a page. If a JW has deleted some good contributions you can revert his work of deletion. If this situation is during, you can ask to have a semi-protection of the page, and to start a "conflict of partiality" (i don't have the good expression in english). Yes, it take time but it could be very interesting to show to the wikipedia's community the behavior of some JW. Bye Charles

  the tower is tricky isn't it?unfulfilled predictions.

  individual jehovahs witnesses have made predictions over the years regarding specific dates and events that have not come to pass.

  Greg Stafford releases JWD 3

  greetings group .

  i saw today that stafford is going to be releasing a third addition of his jehovahs witnesses defended publication at a pre-sale price, on his web site at http://www.elihubooks.com/ .

  it will be of interest to those of us who have read his publications to see what changes will be in version 3 that were not in version 2, since the release of his three dissertations book, which was a more candid look at the history of the wt history and doctrinal changes.
