Lying about going to meetings...what are your thoughts?

I'm in agreement with the others - Lying often doesn't help and causes more problems than the truth. One day your mother may want to join you at your KH, and then what? She will see that you have not been attending.
I suggest using your job as an out, but really, what is the point? If I remember your story right, it was "Attend the meeting or get out", right? So now that you are out of their home, they are still forcing you to attend meetings? Only you can decide what is best for you and your relationship with your parents, but being up front with them about your feelings in regards to meeting attendance will probably be the best course. Just MHO.

What does a JW look like?

What false beliefs do worldly people have of the JW's?

when you went out door to door, or just talking with non jw friends or family, what false beliefs did some have of the jw's?.

Everything my non-JW family thought was true:
They are a cult.
They keep you away from your unbelieving family.
They allow you to lie to your unbelieving family.
You put people at the KH ahead of your own blood relatives.
When I left, I had a lot of hurt feelings to soothe, and I am so glad I have!

the practice involves asking a series of questions surrounding a central issue, and answering questions of the others involved.
generally this involves the defense of one point of view against another and is oppositional.

Of course the dubs would never use this method of teaching new ones, it would help the study to see that is is not the truf. That is why all study materials come with their own set of questions, so the focus is narrowed and the answer doesn't need to be researched any further than the publication in front of you.

they want your phone numbers, cell numbers, they are to be inquired of if you want to take a sh*t. these "good" men will turn into power hungry masters, if they are not already.
the society is taking control over every jw!

I agree with most of the others: You empower them. Just don't give them your number.
There was one elder in my old cong that needed to know everything about everyone. When my ex and I were dating, he demanded to know what the status of our relationship was (only a few close friends knew we were really dating). My ex had looked up an old WT (1964 i think) that said people in the cong should not ask about a dating couples' relationship. When I cited the WT to him (a big no-no for a sister!), he was flabbergasted! He came to me thinking I would crumble under the "headship" BS and tell him. When he kept insisting, I told him to talk to the brother he was inquiring about then, I have nothing to say!
These days, information is a mighty powerful tool. Guard yours carefully!

When is it appropriate for a JW to refuse to supply a Watchtower???
by Black Sheep ini have been refused copies of recent watchtowers by my daughter.. she will give them to me..... "if you can tell me that you think jw may have the truth and that is why you want to read them you can have them.".
do any of you know of any instructions from the wackotower for refusing to supply someone with their litterature?.

Wow! I didn't know they did away with personal subcriptions! No subscription campaign twice a year?
So df's are supposed to go to the literature counter at the local KH in order to get a mag? I will not step inside one as long as I can help it (never say never!)!
