.
hello all, been lurking a few weeks, decided to post..... i am mid 20's, male, unbaptised, 3rd generation, elder family etc.
a number of years ago, in the name of intellectual honesty, i decided to research religions to make an informed choice before being baptised as a jw.... there was not enough time (and i was too uninterested) to look at other religions seriously, so i figured if jw is the "truth" then it should be able to stand any criticism.. is it just me or is it all a load of old bollocks?!.
Welcome! It is a load of crap, but as many have said, you should judge it so for yourself (I think you already know the answer). There is plenty of ideas and research to be utilized on this board, so enjoy!

i think i was about 3 yrs when my mom started studying.
raised in a protestant religion.
she had said several times that all she learned in that religion was hell fire and damnation.
Thanks for sharing your story, Annie, and Welcome! It always amazes me how people can treat one another so harshly, especially when they constantly extoll the "love of the brothers"! I hope you find genuine friendship and trust here.

the following quote is found in a ph.d. dissertation that purports to have secured permission from the congregational overseer to conduct interviews and focus groups with congregation members.
this research was conducted in the usa.
this never would have happened in any of the halls i attended.
Memorial invitations are given to anyone interested in attending. I can't believe this elder had the society's backing when he agreed to have his cong participate. And, as stated, I'm sure he only provided access to firmly entrenched believers.

i was a nineteen year old kid when a jw elder in his late fifties came on to me.
i was going through some awful stuff and dropped by his mobile home for spiritual counsel and a listening ear.
he answered the door in skivvies and a t-shirt.
What a terrible thing to go through at 19! Especially looking for help and your "counselor" hitting on you!

i was driving home today and elo's "mr. blue sky" came on.

I don't know why I like some the old standards, they are before my time. But when I'm alone, I like "Since I fell for You" by Lenny Welch.

Great Pics! I know women get a bad rap about driving, but in the US, it costs more to insure a male driver than a female driver. You can't argue with insurance staticians!

believe in bill because bill said so .
That was pretty funny! If anyone finds the video, I hope they post it.

When my sister and I are in the car together, we break out "Good Morning, Starshine" by Donovan. Doesn't matter who is in the car with us, we belt it out, and we "f" up the bridge big time!
