i've been lurking here and reading for a couple of months now.

i was also a jw for a few years but got myself dfed when i started asking difficult questions, wouldn't stop asking them, and kept pointing out how the wts didn't make any sense.

i am an unrepentent rebellious one who was warned and publically reproved until finally i finally had it out with the elders and they showed me the door.

How deep did you search to finally quit being a JW?

in my case, i never did much research or read alot of apostate literature to get out of the jw religion.

all i looked at was their heart and how they treated me.

that alone spoke for itself..

I didn't do a lot of research at first. I was trying to leave my elder husband, and I knew I probably wouldn't come back. About the same time, the "new light" came about the 1914 generation, and I remember thinking "they are really grasping at straws as time goes on". I had been out for about 6 years when I found this site, then read CoC. What an eye opener.

My first contact with the dubs was when my Mom studied (this was during my elementary school years), she had no plans to join, just enjoyed the discussions. When I was 18, I met a guy I liked and he started witnessing to me.

At the time, I had studied some religion in college, and felt I needed a better relationship with God, something more than attending Cathlolic mass. They seemed to have all the answers, and I started studying. When the light changed (again) about the 1914 generation, and being in a bad witness marriage, I decided to go.

I still feel a strong relationship with God is needed, but I don't think it has to be in any organized religion, since there are so many problems in a lot of them.

Men, women and toilet seat etiquette

i've never quite understood the big deal about men leaving the toilet seat up but since i hear so much about it i try to comply.

i do have a pet peeve.

sometimes when i lift the seat there are obvious signs on the underside that a female has used it and not bothered to 'tidy up'.

I sympathize with your peeve. If you are aware of the messy problem, the party responsible should clean it up.

Also, there shouldn't be any question about the seat being up or down. The lid should be down when the toliet is not in use. Problem solved.

How can they keep harboring these people in their congregations? The fact that he was previously convicted, released, converted, let out on society to preach, and committed these same crimes again makes them just as guilty! They should be held accountable by the victims and their families.
