  Songs that make you cry...

  i've been kind of sad the past few days for several reasons, but, there are certain songs that just cause the tears to flow whenever i hear them (and especially alone).

  only time by enya.

  i know that this song is often linked to the sept 11 attacks, but it really is just so hauntingly beautiful.

  date : 20.03.07. foster mother eunice spry has been found guilty of subjecting children in her care to two decades of horrific abuse.. the 62-year-old, from tewkesbury, beat them, fed them rat droppings, stopped them sleeping and rubbed their faces with sandpaper.

  she thrust sticks down their throats when they misbehaved and made them eat dog food.. one daughter was forced to use a wheelchair for four years even though she was perfectly able to walk.. doctors, teachers and neighbours raised constant concerns about spry's treatment of the children but nothing was ever done by social services.. the catalogue of abuse only came to light when one of the children went to the jehovah's witness elders at the church the family attended.. spry, from tewkesbury, was found guilty of 26 charges of cruelty after a three week trial at bristol crown court.

  This woman makes me sick! I sent a email to the newspaper. If she was attending meetings I am quite sure others would notice the abuse that was being done to the children. When I was in the cult I saw some things but not to that extent. I would give the mother or father some "looks" if I saw them being a little too harsh with the children. If I had ever seen this I would have gone to the police. I feel so bad for those children. They will never recover. Everyone should send an email.

  where we live is a very *new agey*, *earthy* area.

  when i was a witness i never thought twice about my astrological sign or how it relates to anyone else.

  here, people are always asking what my sign is and i've really been entertained by how i see patterns with people in my life and how i've noticed i'm actually attracted to certain *signs* .

  I am a Gemini and I really show all the traits...good and bad! I usually start a conversation with,"Let me introduce myselves!".....Seriously, I am always fighting with myself about things. My best friend, Meljohn is also a Gemini and we are so much alike it is not even funny. My husband is a Sagittarius, his birthday is exactly six months to the day later than mine and we are a very good match. I would never ever read anything to do with astrology as a JW but now I realize that it is harmless fun. I have had my palm read a few times but I am still waiting for most of the things to happen!!!

  i was looking up my old hard copies that i printed out through the years from jwd, and came across this powerful post by "outaservice".. it is an open letter written by a "gaila noble" from arizona.

  it was posted on january 30, 2002 by outaservice, and he gave me permission to copy/paste it into a new thread, for the benefit of all the newbies and others who have never seen it.

  JWD outage -- what if it were longer or worse, permanent?

  jwd to me, and for some like me, is my morning coffee.

  if its not up, like earlier today, it gets me to thinking, what if this were a permanent thing?

  what if jwd were actually shut down like our friend quotes site in 2006?

  Leaving Florida and Moving to Ontario!

  it's official, we will be moving to the toronto area within the next month or so.

  my husband was offered an incredible job in canada so we flew up here to check it out.

  we totally fell in love with the place.

  Welcome to Canada. Ontario is a beautiful province. I live in Prince Edward Island. Maybe you will get down to vist us one day. We are in Florida for a few months this winter. If you lived close enough I could help you pack. Have a safe trip. eh?

  Do you find the forum addictive?

  how many find that they need or want to be on the forum at least once a day?

  do you like keeping up with fellow posters and friends or do like being able to give your thoughts without the fear of being criticized?

  i look at some of the amounts that some have posted wow and i am no better for only being here less than a month, it is a great place to talk and get loads of wisdom from others on a variety of subjects, thanks everyone for the thoughtful expressions and heartfelt posts.. abr.

  Yes, I am totally addicted to the board. I don't post every day but I am here reading. I feel very comfortable when I am here as I understand the feelings of people who are new here and remember how nervous I was to post at first. It is a refuge for me to be with friends who totally know where I am coming from.

  My Mom passed away today.

  after a lenthy illness, 10 years in total, my mother, margaret stecko, passed away peacefully today surrounded by family.

  she was 84, and leaves behind 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

  she was a jw but never shunned me.

  i can put up with a lot of things.

  but i avoid people who are "users".

  you know the type....always taking, never giving, always looking to take advantage of someone......and i don't like liars all that much either.

  Selfishness is the worst personality trait a person can have. It leads to so many other negative attitudes. I try to avoid being around people that are like this. It doesn't take long to figure it out either.
