  i've recently begun drinking a little wine each night before i go to sleep.. the wine is a blueberry variety that i bought from a neighboring vineyard.. it has helped my stomach problems a lot.. syl.

  What is "the Kingdom"?

  i have been lurking for a couple of months and decided to join because i wanted to get further information.. i am not a jw, ex jw, or even considering becoming a jw.

  i am a fairly devout, practicing catholic.

  two weeks ago, a couple of jw publishers stopped by to discuss their schtick.

  According to JW theology, the kingdom will execute all men, women, and children at armageddon. (Daniel 2:44)

  They believe that only JWs will survive into a "paradise earth" that is to be governed by this kingdom. If you ask them about it, they'll dance around it, but that is essentially their belief. They won't honestly acknowledge it to someone who isn't yet fully indoctrinated.

  PSac, Paul had his good points too. It was mostly his attitude toward women that rubbed me the wrong way.

  About that scripture, you triggered a memory. Our TMS overseer started out an instruction talk by saying, " If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have sense stress, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." Obviously he used the NWT rendition of this verse.

  I spent the next 12 years working on 'sense stress and modulation'. I was very happy when a new TMS overseer kicked me off the school for not appreciating it enough.

  I love wine, but can't have any before going to bed. Alcohol seems to screw up my sleep, even if I only have a little. I fall asleep ok, but tend to wake up about 4 hours later and stay awake.

  It's interesting to step back and take note of how Paul has influenced Christianity.

  In some ways Paul reminds me of JF Rutherford. Both seem to have sensed an opportunity to move in, take over, and play the bigshot. It seems like Paul had more influence over Christianity than Jesus did, and not in a good way. I haven't done any bible reading lately, but my own recollections of Paul are mostly negative. Even as a JW I thought he was a bit of an a-hole.

  but is it true that the governing body has modified the definition of the faithful and discreet slave to exclusively apply to themselves and to not include the thousands of other anointed..

  I think the governing body is a figurehead and the real "FDS" is the watchtower legal department.

  I only have one grievance against it - the claim that it comes from God.

  I operate under the assumption that a loving, all powerful, all knowing God who actually gave a crap about us would have sufficient communication skills to provide us with information and instruction that people could actually understand. Yet the bible, in spite of being around for thousands of years and scrutinized by many people, can still not be understood or agreed upon. If God truly cared about us he'd communicate with us in a clear and concise manner. If God exists, and if the bible is from him, then he's playing a very cruel and sick game with us.

  I'd love to say more, but I have to go and hunt down a few Philistines. I'm trying to expand my foreskin collection, as I'm saving up to buy a hot new wife. I'm sure God won't mind.

  reading through combatting cult mind control has got me to thinking.... cult behaviours are found in an alarmingly high amount of groups.

  just start naming off large groups off the top of your head:.

  I find it in the workplace, especially since I'm in a political environment. Reading Steve Hassans books helped me identify it here. No, our lives aren't being threatened here, but our livlihoods could be in jeapordy if we give a hint of disagreement regarding certain party policies.

  come 2014 even some dubs must start to ask wtf jesus has been doing for one hundred years, and there is a big potential for many to leave.. what more will the wt bull**it (writing) department come out with to keep the poor little drones feeding the hive, and maintaining the gb's rock-star life-style ?.

  the over-lapping generation tripe will be getting on for five years old by then, surely "noo lite" will shine that makes the big a even closer or somesuch ?.

  come on chaps, those poor saps in writing need your best ideas.
