downunder the guys mostly use the hip pocket wallet to carry their money.. in cooler climes guys use the larger jacket pocket wallet.

but in some parts of this world it seems guys use money clips.
Well, I don't know where you're "supposed" to carry it, but I don't keep anything in my back pockets. It's bad news for someone with lower back problems because it causes one side of your arse to be slightly elevated above the other when sitting. I keep my wallet in my front right pocket, and everything else in the front left.

recently as old friend of mine was just dfed for fornication.. apparently, the girl he "sinned" with was worked with an ex dub and she shared some intimate details about their relationship.. anyways, the ex dub told her elder father and also wrote a letter to his congo.. when the elders questioned him, he pitched a fit and told them where to go.. he seems to be okay with the decision, but it bothers me that a ex dub would turn him in.. have you heard of something like this happening with anyone you knew?
So he was df'd on the basis of the gossip of unbelievers? What happened to the 2 witness rule? And I always thought the 2 witnesses had to be JWs, not unbelievers.
Does that mean I can make up whatever lies I want and spread them around to get people I didn't like df'd?

i know this is a gloomy topic but have any of you picked a song that you would liked played at your funeral.. i want james blunts new song "goodbye my lover" i heard it for the first time yesterday and cried never had that happend before.

I was trying to think of a good song for my funeral when an unpleasant thought came to mind. I don't have kids, and any family I'm close to are all significantly older than me. To top it off I live almost like a hermit. I doubt anyone I know will even be at my funeral.
I should just blow all my money and let the state bury me. They can play the national anthem.

does anyone else here tend to still think in black & white?
i still find it hard to think in shades of grey.
example: i'm tossing up at the moment doing a phd or a dip education (teaching) but the hardest thing is that i feel like i can't take a detour from my path (phd).
There are two ways of thinking - my way and the wrong way!
In many ways I still think in black and white, and it's a problem, and I'm working on it. I wasn't raised a JW and I wasn't like that before. I used to be flexible to a fault. After becoming a JW I started to see things in black and white. With each year that passed I became more inflexible, to the point where I couldn't even stand myself. I was perpetually angry. Eventually I realized what was happening, recognized the source of the problem, and decided that being a God-boy wasn't doing my personality any good.
I just hope 20 years of indoctrination won't take another 20 years to undo.

since you are one of the easiest active jw's to ask, do you know how that year 1914 for the return of jesus was arrived at?
i'm not asking to put you on the spot, but i am curious if you would be able to explain it to me if i asked.. i notice you never post on any threads that have to do with that subject.
I always had trouble wrapping my head around the 1914 date, including how they arrived at the month of October 1914. Also, I was confused by some of the other dates such as 1919, and the 1260 days, 42 months, etc. I remember studying it, and accepting it, but I never sat down and performed the calculations. I was very trusting in those days.

the jws warn you not to talk to ex-jws.
they claim that they spread lies about them.
in all of my research on the jws, i have found very few instances where ex-jws have told lies about jws.

Yes, I had a couple of JWs insist that the letter on the UN web site was a fake. They insisted that "apostates" hacked the UN web site and put it there.

I was first a Catholic and later a JW. Both religions asked for donations. Neither one forced the issue, but the JWs came closest. That was when they were planning a construction project and gave each family a slip to fill out. They wanted to know how much money each family could commit to the project. I refused to fill out the form because it asked for names. Later they distributed new forms that didn't ask for the names. I think the CO gave them shit for the first forms they used.

i was very stressed when i was an active jw.
i hated going to meetings, knocking at doors, preparing meetings and so on.. i hated talking in front of a group.
there was too much to read and to prepare, and never felt like i was good enough.. last night i took a walk and passed in front of the book study where i was just a few months ago.

That was me. I didn't expect to survive armageddon. In many ways I didn't want to. I was disillusioned by the type of people I met in the organization, and found it depressing to imagine a world filled with people like that.

i am allowed one more topic today so i thought i'd make it interesting.. i'd have to say that i had an awesome jw childhood i had lots of kids to play with, my cong always held special things to make all the children happy such as renting space to have parties or watching disney movies at someones house, movie theatre parties.
sliding parties (you know sleds on hills, no gt sno racers back then), all kinds of things that prevented us from getting worldly friends.
I wasn't a JW but my childhood sucked anyway. When I was a teenager I destroyed most of my childhood photos. A few still exist that my family didn't let me get my hands on, but there are no pics anywhere of me between the ages of 7-22.
