My current bout with pneumonia has made smoking a bit unpleasant. I've been off the butts since last week when I ended up in the ER. I'm really going to try to quit for good this time.

why some find fault with them, or ray franz before them, or maximus when he was here is beyond me.. be thankful for those that decide to come here and share what they know about this organization.. we get elders who are still in their positions and they share with us a lot of interesting news and perspectives.

Little Mexican bastards
I was trying to figure out what the offensive word is here and it suddenly dawned on me. It can't be "Mexican", otherwise Mexico would be compelled to change its name. It can't be "bastards" because the word isn't race specific. I concluded the offensive word must be "little". Next time try calling them "vertically challenged Mexican bastards" and everyone will be happy.

by minimus inmy mom does and has every ailment under the sun.. i know more people that are under meds for depression than not.. fortunately, i do not suffer from depression but i wonder how many do or have, especially if you were a witness..

I know people who just won't take their meds and almost seem to prefer their gloom, which I know isn't true.
I had depression a few times in my life, and I don't think anypne prefers their gloom. I tried 3 different medications and had to stop because of side effects. The last one made it impossible for me to walk through my home without banging into a wall at least 3 times, and then I was supposed to double the dosage the following day! Yeah, right. It would have rendered me completely non functional. It also tripled my blood glucose level, which is not good. The last prescription the doc gave me was handed back to me by the pharmacist because the drug was on backorder for a month and they had no clue when they'd get more. I threw the prescription slip out because I don't want to become dependent on a drug that Canada's largest pharmacy chain has trouble getting their hands on. Besides, I know the source of my woes and it's not something any pill will alleviate.

I just remember hearing a talk about honesty and how even taking a paper clip from work would be stealing. And that it doesn't matter if we were to steal a penny or a milllion dollars... it's still stealing. And also 'the person faithful in what is least is also faithful in much'... so that all should apply to the blood thing too.
That is what we always heard - word for word. It must be from a manuscript talk.
I'm having flashbacks now. I remember one MS saying a prayer aloud in Pizza Hut and I was feeling embarassed as I listened and looked at our pepperoni-plucked pizzas.

What is even more nuts than picking the pepperoni off the pizza is ordering pizza with pepperoni in the first place if you are just going to pick it off.
Come on, we were JWs, you know! We were too cheap to order normal pizzas, and ordered their single-serving pre-fab stuff which always included pepperoni. They were about 8" in diameter and pretty boring.

I recall when I first joined the cult in 1983 all the JWs used to pick the pepperoni off their pizzas because it contained "by-products" which might include blood. I thought this was crazy, but went along with it when other JWs were around. I harboured the "secret sin" of eating pepperoni when I was alone, but I always kept a wary eye open for any JWs who might see me. I was very happy when an elder told us he called the Pizza Hut head office and was assured there was no blood in the pepperoni. We all went to Pizza Hut after field circus and openly ate pepperoni on our pizzas.
Now I try to avoid eating meats that appear to be 'prefabricated', both for health reasons and flavour. I prefer to grind my own meat and make my own sausages, burgers, etc.

Great. Now she'll probably drop dead in someone's driveway. The householder's car will be blocked in until the ambulance arrives and they'll be late for a lunch date at the mall because of her damned pioneering™.
