  To a Witness, JW doctrines are like the law of gravity

  do you ever get together and bring up the subject of whether or not the law of gravity is true or not?.

  neither do i.. and that's how most witnesses view their doctrines.

  there is no discussion to be had, there's nothing to talk about.

  Absolutely, in terms of their view of doctrine. In fact this is a big part of their brand. And what attracts many to it. They treat doctrine as a hard science. Very analytically, even if the rationale is circular. Note how they're always analyzing ancient Hebrew and Greek.

  My Thoughts on Michael Jackson

  my personal impressions of michael jackson have only changed over the years because of his obsessions and because of the molestation accusations.

  but michael was a real genius artist and a one-of-a-kind.

  it's kind of a sad story, really, because all the time as a jehovah's witness i could see how he would be miserable - being brought to fame instantly, having to grow up without a childhood, and being haunted by that very deprivation the rest of his life... to the point of consuming him completely in seeking his lost childhood.

  Interesting piece there on his pioneering. How could anyone push a child like this. The music, then the JW stuff. When does the kid get a break? I really think MJ was like the canary in the coal mine. Many are. They can't get past it. And we should not condemn them. rather their dysfunction should serve as a warning. Because we and our loved ones may be less vulnerable, but not invulnerable.

  Committee for Class action Lawsuit

  currently i'm in the process of setting up a committee of about 5-10 people for the class action lawsuit.

  this committee with be the decision makers for the group as a whole.

  once i have this committee established i hope to move forward with our cause.. .

  I know this lawsuit is a long shot. It may not get off the ground. Many haven't. But...if someone is devoted to it, willing to persist, adjust their tactics when needed, and supported by others with the same mindset, it could work. One person can change the world. Maybe lettib74 will be that person. One thing is certain, everyone who takes up this cause kicks the ball down the field, thus furthering our cause of turning the tide against WT and their inhumane practices.

  poor guy must have suffered a worst mind f#ck then any of us.

  teenage girls worshiped him, but i doubt he ever had one.

  The problems with MJ were many. Even his JW upbringing couldn't have been the sole factor in his problems. He stated on Oprah some years ago that he would have a tutor for about three hours for his schooling. Then he would go to the studio and record till bedtime. Now that's not a dub's life. Where were the meetings, service, personal study? There couldn't have been that much. What I do think may have happened is something often seen in "weak" JW's and their families. They are split between loyalties. On the one hand they want to embrace life and society as a whole. On the other they want to believe the WT which says that society as a whole is doomed. They then vaciliate endlessly between the two. It makes for some strange behavior. Like the Williams' sisters saying that they are proud of Barack Obama but wouldn't vote for him or something to that effect. For MJ the swings were far more severe, probably due to other problems that he would have had even if he had not been exposed to the JW's.

  What can I say to JW's about Michael Jackson's life and death?

  as an active witness, i am still in association with witnesses in field service, meetings, and occasionally at get-togethers.

  we usually go to eat at a restaurant after the sunday meeting.. so tomorrow i am sure we will be talking about michael jackson.

  i live in southern california, and i know one sister in our usual group has met mj's mother, and is very supportive of her.

  Good point Jeff. I thought about this too. Fortunately courts tend to go with biological parents first. If Debbie Rowe was reawarded her legal parent rights when she requested them a few years back, then she will probably have the children and they can be spared being raised as dubs. I wonder how the "friends" in Bonafide"s circle would feel about a child being taken away from their parents on the basis of a reiligion....

  im reaaaaallly tired of the jws, particularly those in my life, sneering at people, especially exjws, smirking cockily and laughing their derisive laughs because they think they are the fucking end all.

  just sick to the point that i am sick from it all.. my estranged husband is still a jw and in the advent of my moving out of his house, he has become a rabid jw.

  his mother who is an ex like me, and who is shunned by him and his sister and her family, is married to an elder.

  I haven't read RTB. Combating Cult Mind Control was very affirming for me. Ray's books confirmed all my suspicions about the "org" and then some. Steve Hassan's book affirmed my feelings on how to leave and on how to help others.

  The suddenness of his death is probably what is getting people. Farah was ill for a long time. She probably did more substantive good than MJ did though. As human beings we are not always rational. Emotions take over in so many situations. Which is probably why there can be such a dichotomy in how MJ is viewed, both adored and seen as strange all at once.
