October 2nd, 2014: The World Ends Tomorrow, Taking all Bets!
by Oubliette inon october 2, 1914, charles taze russell, founder of the watchtower, announced that the gentile times have ended!.
tomorrow will be exactly 100 years since his historic announcment.. to commemorate this centennial occasion, i will gladly take bets in any amount of money that the world will not end tomorrow and that on friday, october 3rd, 2014 gmt, we will still all be here, for better or worse.. any die-hard jws interested in taking the other side of this friendly little wager?
still hoping the big "a" is coming tomorrow and your loving god, jehovah, is going to commit mass genocide and execute 99.9% of earth's population because they don't follow the dictates the 7 members of the "faithful and discreet slave," aka, the governing body of jehovah's witnesses?.

What will you do to celebrate Oct 2 2014?
by jwfacts inlike most people reading this, i was convinced that by 2014 the new system would 'definitely' have been operating for at least a decade.
now that i know this is not going to be the case i am going to have to think of some way to recognise 100 years of wts let downs and failed predictions.
there is no point fretting over the past so i think it will be a good time to celebrate.

Wow! It snuck up on me. I worked, slept, now I'm settling down to more business. But being that it is a birthday for Christ's Kingdom I must think of something....

I'm so sorry to hear. Know that there is more than what the WT takes away from us. Also never give up hope that those who you lose can come back to you.

Amzzing about Russ that he was a receptionist all that time. I knew him in the late 80's and wondered why someone of his character was only a receptionist. It was at the 107 building. I wonder if he was a bit of a rebel. I liked him and leaned a lot from him.

I still love Kingdom Melodies.
by POs Son inok, at the risk of getting flamed, i have been out for over 20 years, and still love kingdom melodies.
i remember them for the good times, the conventions and assemblies, hearing the orchestral versions, imagining the orchestra playing.
some pieces were really nice.

So do I and for the same reasons of memories etc,. That doesn't apply for the new stuff which I have not chosen to listen to and which would have no memories attached anyway.

Imagine an ebola pandemic where the only effective treatment is blood
by Mickey mouse ingive it a few months, perhaps all jws will have to make hard decisions about blood based treatments.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-29084254.
the blood of patients who recover from ebola should be used to treat others, the world health organization has announced.. west africa is facing the largest ebola outbreak in history and more than 2,000 people have died.. a global group of experts have been meeting to assess the experimental therapies that could contain ebola.. the who also announced that ebola vaccines could be used on the frontline by november.. blood medicine.
people produce antibodies in the blood in an attempt to fight off an ebola infection.. in theory, those antibodies can be transferred from a survivor into a sick patient to give their immune system a boost.. however, large scale data on the effectiveness of the therapy is lacking.. studies on the 1995 outbreak of ebola in democratic republic of congo showed seven out of eight people survived after being given the therapy.. dr marie paule kieny, an assistant director general at who said: "we agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat ebola virus and all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them.. "there is a real opportunity that a blood-derived product can be used now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients.".

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Very nice. I know how this feels having gone thru it myself. Letting that certainty go, being comfortable with NOT kowing as you put it is a journey. It's one worth taking. In the end it's great to be free. Most people never take the chance to start over. You have. Good luck.
