Save my Soul, unfortunately I have done all of that that I could. They used family to get info. Plus I have a new life outside of the JWs, no financial ties with it. And I went public. As I did so, plus with my brother ratting me out it was impossible to hide. But I have the satisfaction of the knowing that my grievances are known and my letter to the GB made it up to the branch office in Brooklyn. Frankly all that was much more than I had hoped for. And I got away with things for several years.

convention etiquette

first post, not sure if this is in the right section....anyway, last night's service meeting included a part about the upcoming district convention.

the usual take notes, make sure your teenagers sit with you, blah,blah, blah, was there but then they mentioned something new.

apparently now you have to wear your suit and lapel all weekend if you stay at a hotel.

This "no jeans" policy is not really new. Here in NYC we have had these Service Dept mutts putting this in convention parts for years. They went so far last year to have a "demonstration" with a married couple after a convention session. The wife was wearing jeans and the elder "gently" counsels her on it.

Thanks Barbara/Randy. I know for a fact that this WT article disappointed many college educated JWs. What struck me is that while these quotes are from recent articles, none would check them. The misrepresentation is so clear, and one was out of the a local paper here in NYC. It just goes to show the extent of the mind control.

Former elders: need some info

when a publisher has just moved into a new cong, i understand that the secretary sends a request to the pubs former cong requesting their info and records.

is this a wt form or just a regular typed letter?

if it's a regular letter does it have to be on wt stationary to be legit?.

Having authored many of them I can confirm that as stated it is informal. Some congregations designed a local letterhead and this is OK but not required. It should never be on WT letterhead as that is not the congregation's corporation logo.
