I am so sick of hearing the word "soon."
by TooBad TooSad inthe use of the word "soon" at the kh is used so much by jw's.
that it has almost turned into a "soon" doctrine.. i counted the word soon 15 times at the meeting yesterday during the.
public talk and wt.

Yup, they are soon to be the "soon" cult! They can't make dates anymore without looking stupid. So this is all they have left. You'd think dubs would wake up and see how ridiculous that soon business is. At least from your post it's obvious that you are.

It actually felt like a weight was lifted when I realized that there really isn't any such thing. I think the whole "need the new system" thing just messes with one's mind, self-esteem, and leaves one in bondage to the WT future.

I Rode in a Black Hawk Helicopter Today!

I think they are in a real jam. I've always thought that they might declare a start to the "great tribulation". But then again they then start a countdown to Armageddon. 2014 has never been mentioned so aside from them catching heat on Jesus' lack of activity for one hundred years I don't think much will be said about it. They are in a real jam in if they start spouting years and dates again. I don't think they have anymore credibility in that area. They will probably keep saying "soon" and stay in a devastating holding pattern hoping that "Armageddon" pulls them out of the pickle they have placed themselves in.

we didn't need to know anything about the "act" (and none of us really wanted to know).

Building new friendships
by troubled mind inon the thread about 'moving on after leaving the witnesses', it brought to mind how hard it is to build new friendships .. for me i have been out for a little over three years .
i knew before i quit that it would be important to fill the void that would be left when old "friends" began dropping us .
lucky for me i worked with some very fun out going people at my job .

I have made new friends in two places. Work and my school community. I started this process even before leaving. In both cases I have built on my strengths and not had to change myself too much. What I mean is that my co-workers know about the JW's and so I can be open with them. In my school community I've tapped into my volunteer and leadership skills I developed as a JW and an elder. I use both and find that I fit right in. If you'd like, PM me and we can talk either that way or by phone if you would like to hear more of my story.
