I think they water down Paul's words because they know the sisters would never stand for that crap. In Paul's alleged writings he seems to have just wanted them shut. Period. Such rules are not in the writings accredited to Jesus. That of course doesn't mean he wouldn't have endorsed it or maybe said it at some point. But it's amazing how WT can build a whole explanation that really rests on very thin ice.

Aug. 15th WT- "Jehovah Only Loves Those Who Obey the Governing Body "
by flipper inonce again our lurking jw friend sent us this latest mind control drivel from the " witness only " watchtower.
remember - this is the information our jw relatives will study in their witness meetings at their watchtower study.
this is what they are currently being indoctrinated with.

GB says they are NOT responsible for people acting on their counsel
by LUKEWARM in.. *** w98 3/15 p. 22 par.
15 living up to christian dedication in freedom ***.
15if a witness makes decisions on the basis of bible counsel offered by the governing body, he does so of his own volition because his own study of the bible has convinced him that this is the proper course.

40 Years (a Generation) Past 1874, That's All it Was!
by OnTheWayOut inhere's the real simple version of the complicated doctrine of when jesus supposedly returned and the last days arrived/ended/started.
william miller said that jesus' return would be in 1844.
(see the great disappointment at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/great_disappointment ) people who believed what he said were known as "millerites.

Yup, to the point where the average dub believes old Chuck actually predicted the war. Which of course he didn't.

OTWO, you hit the nail on the head. I saved this as it's a nice simple way of explaining this stuff to my daughter.

I always had questions over the consistency in translating these Greek words, the use of context being a factor. Fact is this stuff is all questionable to me having come down through millenia and numerous copying editions. What is interesting is that however you make the translation, as you say the writer makes it clear that he views Jesus to be extrememly important. "Sustaining all things by the word of his power" almost makes him God. Yet WT never focuses on that. They seem to be caught up in refuting their critics who would contend that Jesus should be worshiped.

firpo carr, phd, mj friend, says mj want kids to be jw's
by orbison11 inomg.
just watching nancy grace on tv, and firpo carr is claiming michael told him that he wanted the kids to be raised like he was, as a jw, with the bible in their life.
orb.

In some ways there is a logic to that. Many df'd dubs who have been mistreated and shunned still believe it's the truth. They often want their kids in. Who knows? Maybe MJ did too. Carr may be telling the truth. Or he may be telling an old story like Outlaw says. But if it were true, it wouldn't surprise me.

A former Bethelites SAD testimony at the convention
by AuntBee ini was just typing some of the sessions out for someone (long story), but i heard the tesitmony again, of one of the brothers, who had served at bethel for 12 years.
the thing that was surprising, was that it was not a joyous testimony.
you can actually hear his sadness, and his voice breaking a few times, when he recounts coming back to "the system" (real world) from bethel, and being completely unprepared and untrained for a job, or to earn a living.

The sad thing is they will view themselves and be viewed as martyrs. It will all be chalked up to the "undeniable fact" that we are living in the last days and "Jehovah's servants" must EXPECT trials and tribulations.
