  My Pity Party is over

  i'm at my daughter's home just north of houston in the woodlands.

  she's going to help me get social security disability.

  i've done all i can to help other disabled people.

  Today I had a HUGE BREAKTHROUGH THOUGHT!!!!
  I cant discuss it now I've got guests coming for dinner.
  But we are going to party tonight and celebrate!
  
  Is there anybody else going to the Monterey Scottish Games and Celtic Festival tomorrow????

  the first one wasn't that bad, because the guy didn't scare me.

  for someone who was raised in the "truth" for 17 years it was a very hard and a very scary decision when my father finnally had the "you must choose a side of the fence" speech and when i chose not to do it anymore he flipped his lid and i so "tormented" by my decsion i latched on to "maryjane" to fill the "need".

  after living with my parents for two years and then on my own for two more years crying everynoght cause i was alone not knowing way i felt this way this way, i felt a spirtual need at 3:30am i drove to my dads house and beged him to let me came home because the "voices" were drivin me crazy and i needed "guidance" he said well get you a meeting with elders and a "bible study".

  so i move back in, had a talk with the elders where they used the bible to call me stupid and i went to there meeting where they used what i said in private and made a whole new talk based around it i broke down crying and prayed to god for the guidacne to make me strong and make the tears stop and the holy spirt led me to this site i moved in with my brother and told my parents i can know longer belive the "truth".

  "If I had all the money in the world I would.........."

  i thought this would be a fun and mentally healthy question to ponder!

  i feel better already just to think of this possibility!

  for me, before giving away alot of it to charities i would first buy a couple of gorgeous houses strategically set in beautiful surroundings where i could travel throughout the year and avoid harsh winter temperatures.

  That attained I would attend lovely symphonies all over the world and wear wonderful tailor made clothes and eat at the finest restaurants in every continent.

  tell this hypothetical person who is still a dyed in the wool witness clearly why he/she should leave.

  do it in such a way that he/she will not bolt for the door screaming "get behind me satan" - in other words, use tact to anti-witness.. jeff

  The Watchtower Society had once led us all to believe it is Gods slave on earth. How did they do this?
  How did they mesmerize us into giving up careers, family, adventure and fun to sit in Kingdom Halls all over the earth?
  Was it the constant return visit program that wore us down?
  The Watchtower and Awake mags with their seemingly well researched articles?
  Was it the smiles at the Kingdom Halls and Conventions?
  Was it the paradise earth???? Our beautiful earth brought back to bountiful perfection again?
  Was it the madness of the times that made us take refuge in a strict ruled cult?
  I dont know for sure in my case. Maybe all of the above.
  Never gave them any money though.

  Helping others, is it an ego trip

  others see themselves on a mission of helping.

  can helping others sometimes be a way of having influence over others?

  I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are asking. But interestingly I was just reading a book about a zen community here in the U.S. The brainwashing that goes on, the charming, the mind control, the power over others is everywhere! After I was dfd I met a woman who tried to charm me with her charismatic personality. She was my age, but wanted to mother me and console me about my dfing and mistreatment from the Watchtower Society. She said she "saw" so much potential in me as a person that had been stifled by the many years with the society. She called me night and day. We went to lunch together a couple times a week.
  The point is little by little she was drawing me in to her with her consolation and her advice, her wit and charm and laughter. My boyfriend saw through it and warned me there would be a price to pay if I got closer and closer to her.
  
  Anyway, I have learned to stay free of mesmerizing personalities. Yes, some people hold a great power of personality over others who are weak for a number of reasons to it.
  
  Now, a little alarm goes off in my head when I get too impressed by another human being. I say to myself, my thoughts are just as valid. I can say no to their advice and I can reject this person's advances.
  
  Yes, there are many people out there AND ORGANIZATIONS desiring to enslave others.
  Dont be a slave to anybody or anything!!!

  What's your favorite holiday?

  my kids occasionally ask me this.

  i usually respond "christmas" because it's so cheerful and festive or "halloween" because i'm always so touched at the kindness of my neighbors.. now i say "labor day".

  they are puzzled.

  Its so much fun and a relief to enjoy the holidays again and to feel a connection with our surrounding community and the whole world again on a certain day!
  
  There is a definite emotional benefit from the sharing of the spirit of a day with your neighbors, work associates, family and community.
  
  We as an EXJW community have alot to share in our communities and a newfound voice for freedom for all.

  your husband ,wife ,boyfriend or girlfriend, things that you know really annoy them so you keep doing it to see their reaction?.

  heres mine ,and you can never tell ,shhhhh.

  i will go ouside and cut a plant ,maybe trim it ,at first i really did forget to clean up my plant mess but oh oh , i got a reaction so now i leave them for him to see and watch him blow,,,,,,,,,,lol .

  No. I am on my second marriage and have found Mr. Right...he put up with my post df weeping for 3 years and has been a real friend....plus he is a gorgeous 15 years my junior.
  
  No, dont think I'm going to push his buttons on purpose.
  
  He has definite likes and dislikes and ways of doing the smallest thing. I keep my tongue and try to be the good sweet pretty wifey to keep this man adoring me.
  
  I know I dont like to be teased, so I try not to annoy when I learn what I am doing is annoying.
  
  Plus, I might add the fact that he is very careful not to annoy me, so we both are polite to each other.

  What musical instrument do you play?

  i spent many many years peforming on the cello before becoming a witness at 18 and being encouraged to quit all my symphony associations etc which i obediently did.

  i was a soloist once with a community symphony and it was a wonderful experience!

  i have a recording of the concerto i performed.

  Jojo, wonderful about the flute! The flute is such a lovely instrument. Please get another and play again.
  My husband bought me a fiddle to cheer me up last year saying "Here learn to play this and you will cheer up not only yourself but everybody else"
  
  So, I am attempting to place fiddle under chin and eek out the first attempts on the violin.
  
  (But when no one is around I can put that violin between my knees and make it sound voooondaba!!!)
  Cause Im a cellist, get it?
  
  Music is something we should all rejoice having whether it is us playing or the radio.
  
  My husband never learned an intstrument, but he is a rock and roller at heart. I wish he learned the guitar or drums. Some people just exude rock stardom, he does and makes nothing of it.
