JH, yes, I still believe that only one God created the universe. The order and consistancy lends credence to the Bible's teaching of only one true creator.
I believe that Jesus was from God.
I still hope the paradise will come. I dont even care when it will come. I dont care if it will come in my lifetime.
I still dont believe in hell fire torment after death.
I believe death is just sleeping or unconsciousness.
I believe God plans for a resurrection to life.
I believe there will be a judgement day on earth.
Come to think of it there is alot I still believe.
But this forum is not a safe place to openly discuss these beliefs.
T.S. will read this and jump all over me for believing what he calls garbage.
pm me if you want to discuss this more JH.
Or anyone who wants to talk about returning, please click on my name and write to me.

Dear T.S., I have met three people since my dfing who truly believe God speaks to them. And thats only my experience. There must be thousands of persons who feel they are Gods instruments. They are hearing voices or getting intuitions. They are obviously influenced by religion. By the way, in all three cases I know of the messages are all vengeful messages, retribution messages. (One gal, if you cross her, always gets a message from God about your demise and eventual payback for crossing her.)
These people are frustrated and ignored and need alot of attention and reassurance. They are getting attention by these dire warnings.
The scripture that says "there is nothing new under the sun" sure does apply to human beings.
Human nature has been studied and discussed for thousands of years.
I'm sure there is a syndrome named after this very anti-social behaviour.
I wouldnt worry too much T.S.. -

To have an oooooooold friend must be nice. Glad you both had a great time!
What places did you visit in Brooklyn? I have never been there. Where would you take a person?
Maybe when you get back from breakfast you can continue your thread and share where you went.

your conversion into the Troof--what "did it" for you?
by M.J. inthose of us who never signed on often find it extremely hard to truly understand how one could come to believe in the message from wts as fact.
what attracted you?
what sealed the deal?

I was a very unhappy teen. Very disillusioned by the world at that time.....the late 60s and early 70s.
I was a good catholic girl who once entertained the idea of joining a convent. I immersed myself in the symphony as a way of hiding from the world. But even there amidst outstanding violinists and singers there was drugs and immorality and degradation. I prayed and prayed at 17 to find the true God and his people.
In no time at all I met a young woman at my new high school who introduced herself to me as a JW. She had spent her summer praying for a Bible Study so she could pioneer while a senior.
To learn of an end of unhappiness on the earth and a return to paradisaic conditions was a real draw for me. To learn God had a name was wonderful. I enjoyed the extra Bible Study knowledge we got on Tuesday nights and Thursday nights. I was thirsty for all the little details of Bible knowledge. In my spare time I read the Aid To Bible Understanding. I enjoyed the calm and peace at the meetings at the kingdom hall.
I went through alot of family hatred to become a witness. I got kicked out of my home and disinherited at 18.
I went to live with witnesses who got me a job and I pioneered.
I was very happy to be one of Jehovahs Witnesses.
What went wrong is another story. -

Yes, Fatfreek, "a word at the right time is oh how good!"
And words of condolence are always appropriate and appreciated.
You are a very loving person to write after all these years.
I too still have feelings for my ex and for his family that will never go away. -

Elders wives, are they more submissive?
by JH ini know an elder (hermann) who is so fat and out of shape that his wife has to mow the lawn and shovel the entrance.
she also works hard inside to make his food and keep everything clean.
he is 73 and she is 70.. i wonder what verse he uses to make her do so much?
-

She obviously takes her worship very seriously and her care of her husband is part of her worship to God.
Funny thing, even at 70 she is seen to be a desirable woman by her conduct.
Men miss this devotion in today's modern brides.
My mom was no guide, but I am grateful I have known many witness wives who set wonderful examples of how a woman should care for her husband and family and home. I still draw on their conduct to imitate.
