Ever go to a meeting DRUNK?
by GetBusyLiving ina few years ago i was living with a buddy of mine here in downtown calgary.
we were both inactive dubs but still half - assed on the fence.
one night i came home from work and there was a slew of beer bottles all over the living room, and my buddy slouching on the couch in his suit and tie, beer in hand.

Yes towards the end of my meeting going days. My parents would come by my place on their way to meeting and guilt trip me into going. I decided to get drunk if I had to go, that was the only way I could be there. My mom said, "wow you really smell like alcohol!" and then they never stopped to get me before a meeting again.

Share a Story...
by misspeaches ini really enjoy reading the stories/experiences you guys all post on here from your jdub days..... the funny, ridiculous, ironic ones make me laugh but reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. the hurtful, sad, mean ones make me hurt as well but again - reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. the scandals that go on - well same again - they reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. i do appreciate the time you all take in writing down your stories and will never tire of reading them.
so if you have a story you haven't relayed here before because it is didn't seem relevant to a thread i would love to read it!.
cheers - miss peaches

I have a story I wasn't going to post but here goes anyway. This happened a few days before you posted your story Miss Peaches about running into that witness at the grocery store.
A few months back I was shopping at a local mall at night time and I heard someone saying my name over and over. I turned to see my best JW friend that I practically grew up with. She grabbed me and we hugged and talked, as I went to leave she gave me her business card and made me promise to call her. Which I did a couple of nights later. We talked for what seemed like forever, laughing, reminiscing the past and all that jazz... Okay so anyway we ended on a note that we would have to get together and do something, she told me to email her later on. Which I did, a couple of days later. I invited her to come to my house and we would have dinner, I even told her to bring her husband (who was my friend before as well). Well anyway, she seemed enthusiastic enough and that was supposed to be the following saturday. But then she called me on that saturday and said she couldn't make it and would call me later. I waited it out and like 2 weeks had passed since I heard from her so i emailed her and told her I would love to take her to lunch one day. She emailed back saying she would get back to me, but never did. I didn't email or call again because it seemed weird that she was blowing me off since she is the one approached me in the mall and everything.
Then one day we were at a local toy store looking for Star Wars toys (as my husband has to have every single one) and I ran into her and her husband there. It was really awkward, and I was just trying to be polite but not too overly friendly as it was obvious she felt the same way. Then she says to me, "I haven't been avoiding you, I have just been really busy". Which was weird that she used the word "avoiding". So anyway we left and I was glad to escape without having to stand around too long feeling weird about the whole situation.
Okay so now a couple of weeks ago it was about 8:00 pm and we were shopping at a clothing store and I saw her as soon as we came into the store. We made eye contact and thats when her and her husband proceeded to hide in the aisles of the store. I went to look for her to just let her know I had seen her and because it was very strange, but when I went into her aisle she looked at me and then pretended to be really busy inspecting something. I was so mad, and it was just so weird that I said to my husband I wanted to leave right then. In the car I was so upset I started crying, I have never been DF'd or DA'd so it didn't make any sense to me.
But then my husband took me to Starbucks for an iced coffee and all was well again! -

Ouija boards Do you feel they are real or not?Any personal experiences?
by Ticker ini've had several expereiences with ouija boards, some interesting, some disturbing, and as skeptical as i try to be i have to admit i have seen it personally say things and do things that i can not logically explain.
some say its your sub-conscience, some say its spirits, others say its demons.
i am just wondering if any of you have had experiences with the ouija board, what they were, and what you believe about them, supernatural or just another simple amusement?

I Don't believe it's real at all. The only times I have played on them has been with friends of mine and there has always been guys around. And I refuse to believe the Ouija board or the demons wanted me to have sex with any of those guys!

People who never cry....
by JH in.
does this mean that they have less feelings, or that they were taught not to show their feelings, or they don't have any?

HL said: "My mother-in-law doesn't cry. She is mean. When she hurts my feelings i cry, instead of telling her she was mean. Then she goes around defending herself, and telling everybody about my crocodile tears."
My mother in law is like this sometimes too. She has said alot of things that have really hurt my feelings without much thought about it. I cry every time, I can't help it. I used to think she was cold hearted and just mean. But one time we had a huge blow up when she was being really mean to me. I was crying and upset but I was angry too. I just looked at her and said I thought it was unfair she judge me so harshly. I reminded her that she is the one who professes to be a christain, and that she is very judgmental for claiming to be Christlike. Then she started crying and hugged me and apologized. I think she is just a really guarded person and she see's crying as being a weakness. -

Do JWs give you the creeps?
by sonnyboy ini'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but i've recently begun to get the willies when i'm around an active jehovah's witness.
this didn't happen until after i started posting here.. when i stop by my parents' house on a saturday morning and the witnoids show up, i get a sinking feeling in my stomach....a mix between sickness, fear, and anger.
i used to try and put on a happy face and be sociable when they came in, but now i just wave goodbye and as i'm walking out.

As steve said: "It's not your conscience causing this, it is what you said. They make my stomach turn too. For me it like watching a twilight zone episode of robotic brain deads. It is frustrating watching the delusional. But, it's their problem. Unlike what we were taught - that we must impose our beliefs on other prople, - we don't have to."
Sonnyboy I know what you mean and I have to agree with what Steve said. Even my own family makes me feel this way, I get really nauseous. I used to have all sorts of things to talk about with my parents. If I even hear from them at all I get "witnessed" to, but we can never talk about anything else or suddenly they act weird. I can't even remember the last time we had a "real" conversation about anything. It is kind of like the Twilight Zone, but not an episode I want to watch :( -
