Jehovah’s Witnesses’ lock down deal for $700M Brooklyn plot
by defender of truth inthe jehovah’s witnesses appear to have achieved a handshake with their bffs: jared kushner, aby rosen and lvwrk.. the pricing is roughly $700 million for the witnesses’ 733,000-square-foot world headquarters at 25-30 columbia heights and a 1.1-million-square-foot as-of-right development site at 85 jay st.. the same group purchased 1.2 million square feet in dumbo heights for $375 million in 2013 from the witnesses and are now leasing to such companies as wework and etsy.. tech outfits have been circling the brooklyn waterfront properties — and the large “watchtower” on the sign could someday be swapped for a name like “facebook.”.
bob knakal of cushman & wakefield has been running the sale for the witnesses, who are moving to warwick, ny.. multiple contracts were handed out for the properties and, so far, all are unsigned.. there has been interest globally, and local bidders have included l&l holding, east end capital, equity one and vornado realty trust.
when reached, the parties declined comment.. .

Any one else like me?
by braincleaned ini have pioneered every time i possibly could, gave talks... i was a good jw!
but for over 40 years, i had nagging doubts about the character of god.
to make a long story short, i'm now a happy atheist!

Loss and Loneliness
by compound complex intonight's sunset is as spectacular as any i had ever viewed from the kitchen window in my former, beloved home-sweet-home.. a tiny abode it was compared to my current habitation.
no longer within a mere four wooden walls of plain aspect and diminutive scale, i now am lost in a seeming infinite architectural spread that reaches toward earth's four points, an edifice of four expansive levels that demand i walk, climb, explore every one of thousands of hidden nooks and crannies.
i am compelled to do this but find no joy in discovery.

Are JWs the worst restaurant customers?
by Alfred in(a little background info before i ask my question...).
my sister-in-law (non-jw), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a kingdom hall, just found out that my wife and i have recently faded, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day... you guessed it: she wanted us to know that jws are the worst customers ever!
she then told us some really embarrassing stories about how jws would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the jws would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was diligent or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway).

LITTLE TALES
by compound complex inlooking out his studio's street-side window, marcel squints as diminishing afternoon rays of a limping, hazy sun come slicing through half-opened blinds.
some men, he had read [for none had ever declared this truth to the young writer personally], write in a darkened box of a room to fend off all possible distraction from the proper conception and development of their little tales.
that, marcel pondered, was too simplistic an accounting of how one's thoughts truly do go to paper.
