Has anyone here been a 'chairman' for an assembly? Question with regard to the script for introductions
by ThomasCovenant indoes anyone know if the chairman's introductions and announcements are completely scripted?
particularly with the use of adjectives and adverbs when introducing talks and speakers.. 'as we listen intentedly....'.
'we eagerly look forward to bro so and so's talk'.

Is all religion based on male power?
by ThomasCovenant insomething in the news, i think, about women clergy got me thinking that all religion, particularly in the past, has been based on man's superiority over women.
i, for one, wouldn't want to join any religion in which i was second class to penis less people.. i was after all made in god's image whereas women were not.. .
i can't help but think that religion has been a great force for perpetuating sexual discrimination.. .

'As we listen intentedly....'
'we eagerly look forward to bro so and so's talk'
'what a fine and upbuilding experience that was'
Whenever they speak, introduce, comment and announce it doesn't sound natural at all. It sounds as if they have to speak word for word from a script even when they are saying 'thank you brother for that timely instruction. How grateful we are for God's bountiful spiritual food'.
Am I imagining it? Has anyone had the 'privilege' of being assembly chairman than can shed 'increasing light' on this matter.
I await eagerly for replies.

A, uh, belated introduction
by SweetBabyCheezits inquick bio: born-in, third gen jw, devout family, dad an elder/po, mom pioneered off/on, baptized at age 10 (my elder dad asked me to wait but i didnt), had overall good childhood, toured bethel, aux pio off/on, finished hs early, reg pio for a year then pio school, met amazing jw girl (also third gen devout), spent a year in community college (paid for by fairly conservative jw parents), got a good job, married amazing jw girl, appointed as ms, delivered public talks and parts on ca/dc, wife and i had first child.
it was a near-storybook jw life (except no bethel).
i had a couple of normal issues in teenage years, but sought the assistance from the elders and ironed it out.

Thank you for that well written and well reasoned introduction. I look forward to more.
Yes, you are fortunate to have a spouse that has followed/joined you in your exit. I can't think of many things worse than if one partner doesn't 'see the light'.
And yes, an interesting point about anyone getting a parent out too.
Thanks

Poster Saphhy explained it best
Jesus evidently meant by generation,
'' that the generation that saw
the generation that saw 1914
will not pass away until all these things occur''
